I mean a couple of weeks ago. And [0:05:50, 0:06:01]: And uh this is all about honoring women's history. What you all did coming here, starting Sarah's, which is now a staple in the community. How many of y'all out there have eaten at Sarah's? [0:06:01, 0:06:05]: How about a round of applause for that chicken? [0:06:08, 0:06:28]: Absolutely. This is a wonderful thing to know that, you know, we're we um it's uh you know, I proudly say that Stockbridge is re ra race um rated the number seven place in a m in America for African Americans as well as a proud accomplishment and that uh in the city of Stockbridge uh [0:06:28, 0:06:42]: uh black business ownership actually outpaced that and part of that is right here with the great work uh that was done by uh the women uh to my right here. We have plaques for you. We have Carolyn Brown's plaque. [0:06:44, 0:06:45]: Okay. [0:06:46, 0:06:50]: I spoke with Karen when I stopped by there. We got uh Karen Kelly. [0:07:09, 0:07:29]: Well I just want to say thank y'all so much. Um seven years ago when we started this business, we never knew that it would grow like it did, you know, because we had no business experience. All we knew was how to do was cook. And so, you know, and we did that and [0:07:29, 0:07:30]: Yeah. [0:07:32, 0:07:51]: And everything else we learned along the way and yeah, we had our seven year anniversary last month, the 26th of February. So we're just, you know, we're so proud and we know our mom would be so proud, you know, we named the restaurant after her. And we know she would be so proud to see where the restaurant is right now, you know. [0:07:51, 0:07:56]: And we just we just cook and you know, we just try to be nice to everybody and [0:07:56, 0:08:15]: And I guess that's what's helped the business. So we thank y'all. Thanks Stop Fred because we know we got a lot of supporters in here and you know we couldn't have done it without everybody that supports us because word of mouth means a lot, you know, good or bad. And we just thank y'all so much. [0:08:22, 0:08:25]: I just want to thank everybody too and I just uh [0:08:26, 0:08:27]: Want to [0:08:27, 0:08:45]: say that everything that she said, you know. You know, seven years ago we had no idea that we would be doing this well. But uh we owe it all to the city of Stockbridge, the people in Stopridge and everybody that come by and support us and we appreciate your business too. Thank you. [0:08:48, 0:08:52]: This is indeed the American dream, everyone. [0:08:54, 0:09:03]: All right. Uh everybody said so you're gonna probably take there's a third person, so you're gonna probably take her plaque and her roses to her as well. And uh Okay. [0:09:04, 0:09:07]: Right and um oh we're gonna take a picture here, is that what's happening? [0:09:08, 0:09:08]: Okay. [0:09:09, 0:09:11]: Come on, come on down this way, please. [0:09:30, 0:09:35]: [583.2, 603.2]: What we're going to do is I have a proclamation uh that I need to read. And this is obviously in um honor of Women's History Month. As I said earlier in my comments, uh that actually women's history is every day, 365 or 66 days of the year, whatever year that is. So before I start reading this though, uh all the uh I know [0:10:03, 0:10:21]: know the ladies from Sarah's country cooking just sat down. But I'd like for all the honorees to come back up here and join me as I read this to everybody. Okay? So all the honorees this evening. Come on back up please. And then after I've done with this we'll take pictures with the council and then we'll move on to some other things. All right? So all the honorees this evening, please come on up. [0:10:22, 0:10:23]: And join me. [0:10:24, 0:10:31]: And matter of fact, I'll tell you what, on that note, if the council can come down and join me for this as well. [0:10:32, 0:10:33]: Okay. [0:10:34, 0:10:35]: Yes, ma'am. [0:10:36, 0:10:45]: I was like it might be harder for the other. Okay, let me let me let's do this. Let's do it here. [0:10:48, 0:10:59]: Audrey's come on in close, come on in close, like you really care and you care for one another, what you do. Okay, make your as yeah, oh return, make your buddy smile, right? [0:10:59, 0:11:03]: Who those veterans, those army veterans, I'd say [0:11:04, 0:11:06]: Well in ladies, come on. We may have to uh [0:11:09, 0:11:14]: It's just squeeze in, we may have to double up, come on, we may have to double up a little bit, make sure we get in this and all. [0:11:14, 0:11:20]: Uh can we do this? Uh well such as people turn we can turn sideways. Yeah you turn sideways that way. [0:11:22, 0:11:26]: Yeah, some people can stand in the back, taller folks can stand in the back of maybe. [0:11:26, 0:11:46]: Yeah, you want to do that? You can go do that if you want to do that, sir. If you Okay. Let's organize. Okay. Okay. This is inner. Can I get you come over? Can you stand kinda like behind? Closer to the mayor. Come come come close, right? You go behind her. [0:11:46, 0:12:06]: You come in, you come in front, in front of her. In front of her, there you go. You can draw short. I mean we need the balance off on this side. Yeah, there you go. There you go. Mr. Alexander, you need to come in closer. [0:12:06, 0:12:10]: Well inside the game or okay. [0:12:15, 0:12:16]: Yeah. [0:12:16, 0:12:29]: Alright, here we go. This is this is actually excerpts from we need a direct hand. [0:12:30, 0:12:34]: I'm gonna tell you what, ladies and gentlemen, let me read this so you can look look, no, I've got I need to read this, okay? [0:12:35, 0:12:35]: Now we went. [0:12:36, 0:12:56]: Whereas our history is rich in amazing stories of strong, courageous, and brilliant women, and whereas since America's founding, women have played an integral part in American invocation and productivity while simultaneously raising generations of lively children and providing leadership in their local communities. And whereas time and time again, women have demonstrated resilience in the [0:12:56, 0:13:16]: face of unprecedented challenges. Whereas American W America's women have readily tackled the dispute disruptive forces and demands of wartime and embraced the technological and industrial advancements of the past 250 years. Whereas we have followed them with the exceptional leadership of women like Olive Ann Beach, the first female head of a major aircraft company, [0:13:16, 0:13:36]: And Marvara Collins, who was working as a full-time substitute teacher in Chicago when she founded a low-cost private school for low-income children. Whereas women are leaders in a range of fields from business, medicine, and government and arts. Now therefore I, Anthony S. Ford, by virtue of authority, vested in me as mayor of the city of Stockbridge, Georgia, and on behalf of City Council. [0:13:36, 0:13:56]: Council members now Alexander John Blount, Lakeisha Gantt, Meet Robinson, and Alfonso Thomas do hereby proclaim March 2018 as Women's History Month. [0:14:34, 0:14:45]: Well yeah. You're fine. Or lend. [0:14:45, 0:15:00]: One more over here, 10. On one, two, three. Wait, wait, wait, wait. One, two, three. Again. One, two, three. And one, two. [0:15:01, 0:15:05]: Thank you. Thank you very much. [0:15:22, 0:15:31]: And as you all go back to your seats, I I have another proclamation to read. So if you go back to your seats and get settled. [0:15:32, 0:15:35]: This next proclamation is Child Abuse Prevention Month. [0:15:36, 0:15:37]: Which is the month of March. [0:15:38, 0:15:40]: I believe Ms. Crumley, are you here? [0:15:41, 0:15:43]: Susan Crumley and Susan Crutchfield. [0:15:45, 0:15:47]: Ms. Crumley, Ms. Crutchfield, please come up. [0:15:57, 0:16:05]: Okay, I'll a couple of you on my other side please. So we can kinda come on come on the other side if you don't mind. Okay. [0:16:07, 0:16:27]: Once again, ladies and gentlemen, this is Child Abuse Prevention Month, 2018, whereas children are key to the state's future success, prosperity, and quality of life. And while children are the most valuable resource, they are also the most value abulble. Whereas children have the right to be safe and be provided, and to be provided an opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow. [0:16:27, 0:16:47]: In an environment that fosters their healthy growth and development. Whereas child abuse and neglect can be prevented by supporting and strengthening Georgia's families by providing parents with the social support, knowledge of parenting and child development, and concrete resources that are needed to cope with stress and nurture their children. [0:16:46, 0:17:06]: Preventing their far-reaching effects of maltreatment, providing the opportunity for children to develop healthy, trusting family bonds, and consequently building the foundation of communities. And whereas effectively in intervening in the lives of children threatened by abuse is a shared responsibility. Therefore, we must come together as partners so that the voices of our children [0:17:06, 0:17:26]: Are heard by all, and we are, as a community, extending the right and helping hand to children and families in need. Whereas by providing a safe and nurturing environment for our children, free of violence, abuse, and neglect, we can ensure that Georgia's children will grow to their full potential as the next generation of leaders, helping to secure the future of the state. [0:17:26, 0:17:46]: and nation. There now therefore I Anthony S. [0:18:15, 0:18:18]: Oh yeah, that's the one. [0:18:21, 0:18:25]: Yeah, that's functioning. [0:18:25, 0:18:45]: Thank you very much. Thank you for the City of Stockbridge and all the city councilmen for continuing to support child abuse prevention. Actually Child Abuse Prevention Month is in April, but our kickoff is March 29th at the McDonough Municipal Court on the s at 7 o'clock. We invite everyone to come and join us. [0:18:45, 0:19:05]: We hope that we can continu can quit having these events uh because we really wish that our children were being protected. But until that point we need each and every one of the people in this room to stand up for our kids and help make sure that they have a safe, loving environment to grow up in. Thank you very much. [0:19:04, 0:19:09]: Okay, never mind. [0:19:09, 0:19:13]: Don't mind ladies, we're gonna go back here and take a picture with the rest of the council, okay? Thank you. [0:19:15, 0:19:20]: We start with studies for money, and then you write it down to you. [0:19:35, 0:19:49]: Congratulations. I was out of good day for me. [0:19:52, 0:20:09]: Yes, then I'd stand in the world. [0:20:10, 0:20:11]: Okay, look at me. [0:20:11, 0:20:14]: On three. One, two, three. [0:20:14, 0:20:19]: One, two, three. Thank you. [0:20:20, 0:20:25]: I want to say. [0:20:43, 0:20:46]: No. [0:20:48, 0:20:52]: To Mayor Ford and members of the city council. [0:20:52, 0:20:56]: City Administrator, Brandon Knighton, I am [0:20:56, 0:21:01]: Honored to be with you today on this auspicious occasion. [0:21:02, 0:21:03]: Again, the first [0:21:03, 0:21:07]: is an awesome, awesome responsibility. [0:21:07, 0:21:12]: And I've had the opportunity to work with our mayor. [0:21:12, 0:21:18]: We are Anthony Ford of this great city, and I can tell you that I can speak for the man. [0:21:18, 0:21:38]: Not just the mayor, but I can speak for the man and his temperament and his commitment to the city. So I stand here to join with you and to join with the city council and the great state of Georgia to recognize you not only for being the very first African-American mayor of this great city, [0:21:38, 0:21:43]: But please join with me in saying the being the very best as well. [0:21:55, 0:22:00]: If you will allow me, I just want to read just a couple of lines of [0:22:01, 0:22:21]: This proclamation that I share with the entire Senate this morning, much to the chagrin of our great mayor, but it says recognizing and commended Mayor Anthony S. Ford for his outstanding public service and for other purposes. Whereas Mayor Anthony Ford has been long recognized by citizens of this state. [0:22:21, 0:22:32]: for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia and whereas he is united and loving in marriage to his wife. [0:22:33, 0:22:40]: Eliseo Alcellia and has been blessed with one remarkable daughter, Ariana. [0:22:40, 0:23:00]: And this proclamation goes on, and I'm going to skip down a little bit because these words are important. It says, whereas Mayor Ford's significant organization and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, has his keen sense of vision and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state. [0:23:00, 0:23:20]: has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates. And I am here from the great state to vouch that he has certainly earned his respect, our respect down at the state capitol. And Mayor Ford, I am delighted to present this proclamation to you, signed by the President of the Senate, Casey Cagle, as well as myself. [0:23:20, 0:23:23]: on this very special day. [0:23:24, 0:23:36]: It is a tremendous, tremendous accomplishment, and I look forward to being here and having these kind of occasions with you on many, many other events. Thank you and God bless you for your celebration. [0:23:50, 0:24:10]: Very appreciated. Thank you, Senator Jones, without a doubt. I really appreciate that. And as I as I have since stated during the swearing in on the 8th of January, first of all, I'm humbled by this, without a doubt, and and the fact that obviously the citizens had to elect elect me in this aspect. So I thank you for that. And my is my intent along with the council because once again I'll say again, the mayor can do [0:24:10, 0:24:30]: without the council. This is the council right back here. I can't do without them. All right. And and I I I will say now, I've been saying all along, it's a team effort, and we have to work together as a team to make it work for the citizens for you all. And uh we're all at large. You elected all of us, so we serve you. So that's what we need to do in this aspect. And um I want to make sure [0:24:30, 0:24:50]: that uh I want to acknowledge also I'm sorry our staff. See even with the elect officials got to do their little thing. The staff has to do the heavy lifting. Okay. So nitrogen, the Nessa, our public works, our personnel. You know, we've got an outstanding staff here in the city of Stockbridge. And our newly PIO has been work working her [0:24:50, 0:25:10]: working hard girl ever since you got here you know absolutely shana so what it is is our staff and I I gotta give my hats off to our attorney as well to keep us legally straight on everything. So it's a team effort folks always has been and always will be as long as I'm around always a team effort. I mean I appreciate the the help the process thank you senator but I can't do it without the [0:25:10, 0:25:25]: Their vote, the s the staff here, the staff and also the the the the council's approval and uh to get things done. So it's it's strictly a team effort always. Thank you, and God bless you all. And one other item. Yes sir. This is customary. Oh wow recognized. Oh wow, okay. [0:25:26, 0:25:31]: Yes, sir. All right. I did not know that. Okay. [0:25:41, 0:25:58]: coin carry. Okay. I gotta take different rest of the house. Okay, it's used and my kid caught up and all the stuff doesn't want to find it. [0:26:08, 0:26:10]: I would like to see. [0:26:17, 0:26:19]: One more, one, two, three. [0:26:24, 0:26:26]: Okay, so [0:26:54, 0:27:14]: All right, so um we did all the ceremonial things, which is a good thing. Now we'll get down to some additional business, right? Uh what a glorious day. It's always a good day, right? In the city of Stockbridge. The greatest city in the state, the greatest city in the nation. Right? Absolutely. Well, and we've did uh four and five. Six has been taken off, so seven. [0:27:14, 0:27:26]: And seven, item seven is a council consideration to approve the use of Test Strickland Community Center on April 26, 2018 for senior fund day. And presented by Mayor Pro Tem Gantt, please. [0:27:27, 0:27:47]: Yes. Um the last council meeting we had I was going to do a non profit mixer during Georgia City Week. However, um the Mermanda Conference Center at that time is being occupied and because of that um last year I had a senior citizens fund day. So we call [0:27:47, 0:28:07]: Senior Fun Day, and it is a great day in Stockbridge. The seniors get an opportunity to mix and mingle with each other. Um we had games, food, awards, um sponsors came out and it was a a wonderful event. And so we are asking that we are allowed that [0:28:07, 0:28:18]: that I'm allowed to have senior fund day at the TET Strickland Community Center on April 26, 2018. So I would like to make a motion to approve that. Second. [0:28:19, 0:28:20]: Okay, any further discussion? [0:28:21, 0:28:23]: If not, all in favor, please indicate. [0:28:25, 0:28:28]: Okay, it's an unanimous decision. Appreciate it. Thank you, Council. [0:28:29, 0:28:49]: The next item would be number eight, new business council consideration to partner with a friend's house to allow for annual fundraiser, Taste of Henry, to display signage throughout the city presented by Nan Jenkins, Director of Development of the Friends House. Yes, ma'am. Outstanding Nan. Hi, Mayor Ford. How are you? How are you, City Council? [0:28:49, 0:29:09]: members. Thank you for having me back. Um I'm gonna steal what Susan Crunchville said a minute ago. I'm sorry I have to to be back with you, but unfortunately uh children are still in crisis here at Hidry County and um we at a friend's house are trying to to take care of of that issue the best we can. And one of the ways we [0:29:09, 0:29:29]: do that to get our fundages through Taste of Henry every year. This will be our 17th year. It is April the 20th. It is still at the Jason Harper Event Center because they still have a covered pavilion. If you came last year, thank you very much because I think just about everybody did come last year. It was very [0:29:29, 0:29:49]: crowded. It was our our biggest year yet, which is a good thing, but we had to learn a few things um like how to get people to be in separate lines. So we're gonna work on that a little bit this year. So I encourage you to come back if you um came last year and had to wait long lines but uh hopefully you got to enjoy uh some good [0:29:49, 0:30:09]: food. We had several um places from Stockbridge represented last year at Taste of Henry. We are excited. I had a meeting probably about six weeks ago with um Mr. E from the Merlbanders Conference Center with the Tasty Truck Tuesdays and you all are going to have a food truck there and we're going to set [0:30:09, 0:30:29]: up the Stockbridge City tents and all with the food truck to encourage participation at the food truck event. So I think that's a huge win-win and a great partnership because it's a win for us because we get another food vendor with the food truck and then a great advertisement for your Tasty Truck Tuesday. So um I'm just [0:30:29, 0:30:49]: here again to ask your permission um working with um kira to to get the signage put up that we put around the city um the last couple of years that that you all have let us do that. It's just a banner advertising um taste of Henry and wanting uh people to come and uh they pay their entry fee at 100% [0:30:49, 0:30:57]: of the proceeds come back to our kids at a friend's house. So we currently have sixteen kids right now at a friend's house and um [0:30:57, 0:31:16]: We are doing the best we can to to make it the best um you know situation that we can for the kids while they're there. We had a great year this past year. We actually had one of our residents graduate and she is currently in out Georgia State uh getting her degree. So that is um that is a bit. [0:31:18, 0:31:38]: So we don't often um get that opportunity to see that a lot. And then we have another young lady, it's her senior year, and uh she I don't know where the process is right now, but she is uh working on getting into the Naval Academy. So again, another just great thing um that's coming from these kids. [0:31:38, 0:31:58]: because they're great kids, they've just been put in bad situations out of out of their control. So many thanks to to you all for what you've done before and for all your support of a friend's house and taste of Henry. If you have any questions about anything about what we do at a friend's house or or at Taste of Henry, I'd be glad [0:31:58, 0:32:18]: I had to entertain those, but I I don't want to take your valuable time. So any questions that anyone has? Yes, and any questions on anybody? Yes, ma'am, go right ahead, please. Oh, I'm sorry you got a question? Yes, sir. Councilman Buffett. I just want to say thank you for allowing Stockbridge to be a part of this because it is a tremendous honor. [0:32:18, 0:32:38]: to be supportive of our children. So um I I just know with this council my colleagues we're here to support so please continue to keep us in mind and to know that that we'll have your um we'll definitely support you every year. Thank you. You know you'll definitely have my support so but thank you so much for [0:32:38, 0:32:41]: Everything that you do for our children. Thank you. We appreciate it. [0:32:42, 0:32:58]: Okay. Yes, Mayor. You gonna make the motion? Is that what you're doing? Go ahead. Go right ahead. Mayor Ford, I move that we approve the um partnership with the friends house to allow for annual fundraisers, taste of Henry to display signage throughout the city. I second. Okay, there's a f motion, a second. Any further discussion? [0:32:59, 0:33:05]: All in favor, please indicate. It's a unanimous decision. Thank you very much, Mr. Thank you. I look forward to seeing y'all there. Thank you very much. [0:33:06, 0:33:26]: New business council consideration for the use of Ted Strickland Community Center on May 2nd, 2018 for the GMA for GMA to conduct a regional workshop on the new requirements for background checks and fingerprinting, pre-employment auto license procedures, and have a speaker from the Department of Revenue speak on alcohol license requirements and ISO [0:33:26, 0:33:46]: ratings presented by Ms. Camilla Moore, Community. Good evening, Mayor and members of the Council. I bring before you this item at the request of Georgia Municipal Association. As you know, each legislative cycle they always produce a set of bills. This year one of the bills that have come out uh that's pending in the legislature deals with new requirements as it pertains to alcohol. [0:33:46, 0:34:03]: the handling of alcohol and sale of alcohol. Stockbridge is kind of located in the middle of the state and they made the request to see if they could hold their regional training on this particular bill once it's adopted by the governor at the Ted Strickland. So I stand before he before you tonight with the request from GMA to do just that. [0:34:04, 0:34:06]: Thank you. Any questions for Ms. Moore? [0:34:08, 0:34:28]: Well let me make a mu comment in passing. I I think this is a great thing to have GMA come to our city to do this. Uh say regionally look kind of located in a sense, but uh I don't recall uh GMA coming to to do conduct anything like this in the past. I don't know whether or not someone that can share that light on that. I think it's a good thing to have them come here. Maybe we can have a more routine for even training section. [0:34:28, 0:34:48]: And I believe Councilwoman Nee Robinson talked about that once before. Yes, ma'am, go right ahead. [0:34:48, 0:35:08]: state. And I did submit the city of Stockbridge. We had actually asked for the Merrill Manders Conference Center training rooms. It's not available that day. Therefore we uh they still wanted to host it here though in the city. Okay. And that's why we have uh put forward the Ted Strickland. Well but they do want to hold training in this area [0:35:08, 0:35:28]: making it conducive for those uh in the area not to have to travel so far to Athens and things like that. So this is a prime location for them and if we could um move forward and let them know that this is good, I think you'll see more uh to come. I appreciate Def Vanessa, absolutely. I I think it's a great thing. It puts us [0:35:28, 0:35:48]: more on the map even with GMA, right? Okay. Mayor Folk. Any other any other comments? Yes. Yes, Ma go right please. Um again thank you for acknowledged. Yes, I did mention that um because we have a lot of opportunity here. We have beautiful facilities and we're the central location. Um we're the largest city in Henry County and our doors should just swing wide open. [0:35:48, 0:36:08]: for these opportunities to come and highlight what we can do here in Stockbridge. So to you, Madam Clerk, thank you so much for submitting that because that is something that we need and also to Ms. Camilla Moore, thank you for bringing it forth to us because again there's a lot of other opportunities and I would love for us to [0:36:08, 0:36:26]: continue this not just with GMA there's also um the ACLU everything they have opportunities ARC whatever we can do we just want to bring um opportunity here to our city so everyone can see how beautiful the city of Stockbridge really is thank you so very much. Okay good deal any other comments from the council [0:36:27, 0:36:42]: And if not, uh we have a motion, we'll have a second. Well we don't excuse me, we don't have a motion yet, do it. I would like to make a motion, uh mayor, that we you allow the GMA to conduct their regional workshop um here at our Ted Strickland Center on May the 2nd, 2018. [0:36:43, 0:36:48]: Okay, second by Maripo Tim. Any further discussion? If not, all in favor, please indicate. [0:36:48, 0:37:08]: Okay, fantastic. Unanimous decision. All right. Number 10 item, we're going to uh come back after executive session. We discussed that in the executive session. Uh number 11's been taken off. Number 12, it is um council consideration to approve Georgia Power Lighting Service Agreement for Memorial Park, LED conversion in the amount of$27,000. [0:37:08, 0:37:13]: thousand dollars which is a spLOS funding project. Mr. Aaron, please. [0:37:14, 0:37:34]: Uh yes, Mr. Mayor and Council. Last year the city started with the conversion of their street lights and park lights from uh the sodium vapor lights to the LED lights, which are more energy efficient and put out more lights. So uh Memorial Park is the last park. We've already done Clark and Gardner Park, so this will be the [0:37:34, 0:37:46]: final phase of that project to make the transition to LED and the funding is from Splost and we're asking for approval to move forward with Georgia Power converting the lights at Memorial Park to LED. [0:37:47, 0:38:07]: Okay. Um council any question for Mr. Aaron at all? I I got a coup questions on on the program. Go right ahead, sir. Uh in terms of the overall LED program, it was supposed to be inclusive of the entire city. I'm familiar with the summit at Eagles Landing. They did like maybe a few of those [0:38:07, 0:38:27]: lighting fixtures up front but then there was an addition to the neighborhood and then the back of the neighborhood you can tell the difference especially at night you see the LED bright white lights and then you get to the back and they're still the yellowish color. I'd like to know what exactly is it that they're doing or what is going on [0:38:27, 0:38:47]: on at the summit at Eagles Landing in this program and then subsequent off the subject, uh the bank of lights on Jodeco Road uh heading north at the exit, they're out and they've been out for a couple of uh uh probably a couple of weeks now. Uh we'll contact G Dot in reference to those [0:38:47, 0:39:01]: But uh what we've done is uh Jeff Greenway has been riding around in the city identifying lights that Georgia Power did not convert. So we've got a list that we'll be submitting to them to make sure that we get all the lights switched over. [0:39:02, 0:39:04]: Okay, good to hear. Yes, sir. [0:39:04, 0:39:16]: I uh move to approve the uh consideration to approve the uh Georgia Power Lightning Service Agreement. Okay motion uh made by Blount, seconded by Alexander. Any further discussion? [0:39:17, 0:39:22]: If not, all favor please indicate. Okay. Fantastic. Thank you, Mr. Aaron. [0:39:23, 0:39:33]: Um next is council consideration to uh to approve Georgia Power Lighting Service Agreement for a maintenance facility, LED conversion in an amount of six hundred thirty dollars per month. Mr. Aaron. [0:39:33, 0:39:53]: Uh yes, Mr. Mayor. Currently the city has 10 lights down at the maintenance facility. And with this agreement we'll be adding four additional lights to for our street sweeping operations. There are some areas that currently do not have lights. So we're going to increase our lighting capacity by 40%. [0:39:53, 0:40:09]: and our electrical bill would go up by 27%, but we'll have 40% more coverage with the four additional lights, which help the street sweeping operations because they come in a lot of times at night when traffic is not as heavy to perform their street sweeping operations. [0:40:10, 0:40:21]: Okay. Great. Any other questions for Mr. Aaron about our maintenance facility and additional lights in LED? Just real quick for the public, identify the specific area that you're you're talking about. [0:40:21, 0:40:41]: As far as the maintenance shop? Well yeah, where the w that would be the lights will be added. There's an area where the uh street sweeping operation is performed where there there's a fire hydrant there where they get water for the street sweeper and also where they empty out the sweeper. But a lot of times their operation is performed, as I said, at night. So they need light in there. [0:40:41, 0:40:49]: area so when they're out performing their operations it makes them safe and also have light available to them. [0:40:50, 0:41:10]: And sec secondarily, if a member of this audience wanted uh that feels like lighting is inadequate in their community or they want lighting added, what would they do? Would they contact you? Yes, so the process would be they they contact public words, public words contact uh Georgia Power, Georgia. [0:41:10, 0:41:15]: George Power goes out and does an assessment and then they'll come back with a recommendation as far as the lighting is concerned. [0:41:16, 0:41:17]: Thank you, sir. [0:41:18, 0:41:19]: Okay. [0:41:19, 0:41:21]: Yeah. [0:41:24, 0:41:38]: Yeah, right, exactly right. City managers should be well aware of that. My assumption is is that you uh there's gonna be a total of fourteen lights out there, right, with with the four additional fourteen lights and all on the LEDs would amount to further questions uh for Mr. Aaron? [0:41:39, 0:41:40]: If not any uh motion please. [0:41:41, 0:41:51]: Mayor Ford, I move that we approve the um Georgia Power Lighting Service Agreement maintenance facility LED con conversion in the amount of six hundred and thirty dollars per month. [0:41:51, 0:41:54]: Here second. Ms. Robinson, okay. Any further discussion? [0:41:55, 0:41:57]: If not, all in favor, please indicate. [0:41:57, 0:41:59]: Okay, fantastic. [0:41:59, 0:42:10]: All right. Thank you, Mr. Aaron. Appreciate it. Item 14 will come back to the citizens after we discussed it in executive session. So on that note, uh I have here comments from our city manager. [0:42:11, 0:42:31]: Yes, thank you, Mayor and Council. Uh the one comment I want to make is uh certainly to um uh acknowledge uh the great town hall that we had last Thursday evening here at City Hall. We had a standing room-only crowd. Uh citizens came and were informed about the deannexation proposal that is before us, which uh you all have taken the lead and been fighting very hard. [0:42:30, 0:42:50]: for the citizens of Stockbridge. And we will be conducting a town hall this Thursday, this coming Thursday, um at 7 o'clock p.m. here at City Hall. And so we encourage all citizens to come out, to be informed, to receive information about this proposed deannexation, and know how they're and to also [0:42:50, 0:43:10]: learn how their voices can be heard and we certainly not we certainly um would ask all of our citizens to visit our website where you can obtain additional information and of course please feel free to call uh your staff at any time regarding these proposals so that you will get the facts about what is being proposed and what [0:43:10, 0:43:18]: what the mayor and council are are doing in terms of their leadership uh to combat uh these proposals that are before us. [0:43:18, 0:43:22]: Thank you. Thank you, sir. Uh Mr. Thomas, please. Any comments? Thank you, Mayor. [0:43:23, 0:43:30]: I like to take this opportunity to do an um women history month. Excuse me, I've been [0:43:30, 0:43:34]: having a little trouble with my throat here. Um, excuse me. [0:43:36, 0:43:49]: I'd like to take this opportunity to, during Women History Month, to lift up the name of and legacy of Mrs. Georgia Knight Henderson. [0:43:50, 0:43:52]: Who is the founder? [0:43:53, 0:44:00]: the builder of Knights Amy Church at 224 Red Oak Road right here at Stockbridge. [0:44:01, 0:44:04]: She was born March 13th. [0:44:05, 0:44:06]: Nineteen hundred. [0:44:07, 0:44:08]: in Dublin, Georgia. [0:44:10, 0:44:15]: Reverend Henderson decided to have the church dedicated. [0:44:15, 0:44:19]: by laying the cornerstone in nineteen fifty eight. [0:44:21, 0:44:24]: Thus m making the origin of this church. [0:44:25, 0:44:27]: Passed it there until [0:44:28, 0:44:31]: She retired in 1975. [0:44:32, 0:44:33]: She lit [0:44:33, 0:44:35]: And raise the torch. [0:44:36, 0:44:39]: That has been burning continuously. [0:44:39, 0:44:40]: Since that time. [0:44:41, 0:44:46]: The present pastor there is Reverend David A. Marl. [0:44:48, 0:44:49]: Reverend Knight [0:44:49, 0:44:51]: Serve continuously [0:44:53, 0:45:13]: until her death, but the church continuously to praise and worship for the last sixty years right here in the city of Stockbridge. So I just want to take this opportunity just to lift up her name and her legacy. I know Mrs. Reed is here. Mrs. Reed has been a uh [0:45:13, 0:45:17]: a longstanding member of that church for many years and [0:45:17, 0:45:33]: This was a lady uh that was in my neighborhood as a child and I do remember her and I just wanted to lift up her name and her legacy because the church still stands today and I just wanted to shout out her name. [0:45:34, 0:45:38]: Reverend Georgia Knight Henderson. [0:45:38, 0:45:45]: the founder and the builder of Knights Emmy Church right here in the city of Stockbridge. [0:45:46, 0:45:46]: Thank you. [0:45:47, 0:45:47]: Yeah. [0:45:51, 0:45:52]: After blood please. [0:45:54, 0:46:14]: Yeah, I just uh wanna thank everyone for coming out and it's always a it's always delated I'm always elated to see when citizens uh hang around, they wanna be informed when they come to these meetings. Um just to know that we are uh working diligently to save our city and keep our city whole. Uh [0:46:14, 0:46:22]: Uh we didn't just start this fight. This fight's been going on for over a year. And to let you all know the more that we can get information out to you all [0:46:22, 0:46:42]: uh we will and uh to be informed with the facts and truth is what we're uh is what we're here to do. Um I would ask that each and every one of you that wants to know the fact and the the facts and the truth about what's going on to visit our website and and call your elected officials and find out what's actually going on and how you can get involved. Thank you. [0:46:43, 0:46:44]: Mayor Pro Tem Gamp, please. [0:46:45, 0:47:05]: Yes, um thank you for your continued prayers and support and thank you to the citizens. It's been outstanding watching from Facebook to neighborhood next door neighbor and different things. Everyone's putting out information, um the positive information about Stockbridge. So I thank you guys for reaching out and speaking. [0:47:05, 0:47:25]: out about what is going on here in Stockbridge right now. And it's good to know and feel that we're not in this battle alone. So I want to say thank you for that. Just stay tuned. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Make sure you spread the word. Don't assume that everyone knows about this. Make sure that [0:47:25, 0:47:32]: know about it by spreading the word on your social media sites and to your neighbors. Thank you again for your support. [0:47:33, 0:47:34]: Councilman Al Zenter. [0:47:34, 0:47:54]: Yes, I'd just like to say thank everybody for coming out and what a magnificent day that we have uh celebrating Women's History Month and then uh Senator Jones uh presenting Mayor Pro Tem. Uh congratulations, Mayor. Uh you observe it. Thank you so much for for what you do. Uh I did wanted to make uh [0:47:54, 0:48:06]: One additional comment. Um as a Eagles Landing resident, I want you to understand the residents of Eagles Landing are not the enemy. They are just as clueless as you are. [0:48:07, 0:48:27]: It is a very small minority of people who are involved in what is going on. I don't support this and I live in a community with three hundred and nine neighbors. They don't support it either. So it's not the residents of Eagles Landing. It's not because for overall they do not support this. So as we go [0:48:27, 0:48:47]: Through this battle, let's try to make sure that we keep the city united and understand that the Eagles Landing residents are in this with us. It's not that they're against what we're trying what we're trying to do to keep the city together. And um I want to uh follow up on my comments from the town hall the other night to ensure to make sure that [0:48:47, 0:49:07]: that everybody knows that the staff is working hard to make sure that they do everything. Uh and uh and that uh they're working hard and now that we have increased the public awareness, the media and everything. We're working toward that defending the city uh in the right direction and that uh we want it uh to [0:49:07, 0:49:27]: to make sure that you know that all the suggestions that you made uh will be incorporated or will be considered to be moved forward because we value your opinion and what you wanna do. And I was just overwhelmed that's how many people showed up and said that they cared about the city. Those images matter. [0:49:27, 0:49:31]: Thank you so much for showing once again that you love your city of Stockbridge. [0:49:32, 0:49:52]: Yeah. Councilwoman Need Robinson, please. Yes. Thank you, Mayor. Thank you again, everyone, for coming out to the wonderful women that were honored on tonight. Um I'm just so excited that they're with their willing vessels to be in our community. Um there's room for more. Um so if you ever need anything to do, please come and ask. We have a lot of things. [0:49:52, 0:50:12]: that we can do here in our community and the city of Stockbridge is moving forward. So we would love for you to join us. We have volunteer opp opportunities that are available. So please definitely come and sign up for those opportunities. And also wanted to actually again say congratulations to Judge McCord and I know our mayor is going to mention that. [0:50:12, 0:50:32]: um in his closing. But um just want to say thank you to everyone. Thank you to our staff. But lastly but just not least, to our mayor. Um he's doing an outstanding job. He is standing strong for us and I was truly honored this morning to stand in the well when he received [0:50:32, 0:50:52]: See the surprise from Senator Jones in that um a resolution that was presented to him, but he's doing an outstanding job and we just need to support him. So whatever there that's going on, he needs to be uplifted to know that he's caring a lot, but he's doing a lot. And mayor, from me to you, I appreciate [0:50:52, 0:51:12]: you and I look forward to continuing to work with you and whatever it needs to be done I'm there so you just let me know. Appreciate it. Thank you very much. Since I missed the clerk earlier, clerk I'm I mean I'm sorry about that. Go right ahead if you have something you need to add. I just wanted to remind the citizens that we have a new item on our website. [0:51:12, 0:51:32]: code red and with us going into this season of storms and tornadoes that we want to make sure that everyone signs up is our go to our website www. cityofstockbridge dot com and you can sign up there. You will get weather alerts when there is severe weather approaching our city. You can get it by text, email [0:51:32, 0:51:52]: However, you choose to select, but I want everyone to go on and sign up for that app. Thank you. And in reference to uh this evening and women's history month, I once again want to congratulate those uh those individuals that were honored here. And of course, as I said earlier, 365 days a year is always women's day, special day, right? Absolutely. And uh [0:51:52, 0:52:12]: I want to mention two other individuals that are special to the community. They are no longer with the living, and that would be a social community leader, Carrie May Hamrick, as some of you may have known her personally, and uh Merle Manders, who uh served as a city clerk for many, many years. [0:52:12, 0:52:32]: acknowledge those two ladies uh at this point as well. And um yes, Judge McCord uh was honored in the in the Senate today by um Senator Jones and received recognition for his work here in Stockbridge and also taking on some additional responsibility as as a president of one of the attorneys organizations here in the state of Georgia here shortly. [0:52:32, 0:52:52]: And it was a it was a great thing with his his personal family was there. And he's been doing a great job for us as as our judge for several years. And as far as I'm concerned, hopefully the council will allow him to continue to serve this community because he he does great work. He's uh definitely a a community servant in this aspect. And yes, I was surprised, as you know now, about uh [0:52:52, 0:53:12]: the uh the actual uh uh pr resolution for me as well. But thank you uh uh for your comments uh uh Councilwoman Robinson. I appreciate that and and once again I'll say to you it's it's a team effort and I'm humbled by it all and I will always say that and I'll always uh look at the team effort uh that we for us to be successful because without the team effort we we will not be successful. [0:53:12, 0:53:32]: for the city of Stockbridge and we want to be successful, all of us wants nothing but success for our community and to be strong and will continue to be strong and we will grow and move it forward and uh be whole and complete and grow and things of this nature. All right. So uh wanna mention that as well. Spring is on its way [0:53:31, 0:53:51]: here enjoy your spring break folks with your families as well and I want to at least let you say uh say in a sense enjoy Easter Good Friday and Easter which will be coming up shortly as well on that note I uh I what I want to do before I we go to the executive session I'd like to at least read the I'm gonna jump and read up the actual uh upcoming meetings first so we have [0:53:51, 0:54:11]: several of these and then we'll talk about the executive session in a second. The youth council meeting is Wednesday, March 14th, 5 30 right here in City Hall Chambers. At this committee meeting is Thursday, March 15th, 6 p.m. in City Hall Levi Meeting Room. The Planning Commission meeting is Thursday, March 15th, 6 p.m. in the in the chambers, and we have our [0:54:11, 0:54:18]: Yes ma'am. [0:54:19, 0:54:20]: Agenda. [0:54:21, 0:54:41]: I have a old agenda. The agenda was published prior to and that meeting has since been canceled. It has been canceled. Okay. The planning commission meeting has been canceled. Okay, great. Downtown Development Authority meeting Monday, March 19th, 6 p.m. in right here in City Hall in the Levi meeting room. The U Council Advisory Committee meeting Wednesday, March 21st, 6 p.m. in the Levi meeting room. Council, our council work session is Tuesday, March 27th, 4 p.m. at City Hall and the Levi Meeting Room.
