[0:10:46, 0:11:00]: Um is our Main Street manager report and discussion at this present time. I will yield the floor and send it over to Miss Kira Brace Harris, our program, our awesome program Main Street Director for her report. [0:11:01, 0:11:07]: Thank you very much. Um, and um welcome everyone and good morning. [0:11:08, 0:11:10]: I appreciate you all being here. [0:11:10, 0:11:16]: Um, for this meeting and I apologize for us having to kind of rush through. [0:11:16, 0:11:22]: But I did want to make sure that you all were updated on several items with regard to Main Street business. [0:11:23, 0:11:28]: um housekeeping items and any announcements that we have we would handle here. [0:11:29, 0:11:29]: Um [0:11:30, 0:11:41]: As far as board terms are concerned, we discussed this at um both our September and October meetings. Um I ask for everyone to submit their statement of intent. [0:11:41, 0:11:47]: For continuing on the board. There are a few members that I have not received that information from, but your terms are not. [0:11:48, 0:11:49]: Uh for um [0:11:50, 0:11:51]: Renewal. [0:11:51, 0:11:56]: Or um termination if you're interested in um rolling off the board. [0:11:56, 0:12:08]: But up for reappointment this year are Willie Hopkins, Anika Potts, Greg Horton, and um Linda Jones. Linda, I think you're the only person that I haven't received the statement of intent from. [0:12:08, 0:12:12]: So if you could get that back to me as soon as possible. [0:12:12, 0:12:18]: Um if you're planning to continue on the um board, uh we hope you will be that already. [0:12:19, 0:12:21]: Did you submit it yes, yesterday? [0:12:21, 0:12:25]: Oh yesterday. Okay. Um I just haven't received. [0:12:25, 0:12:39]: She has it. Okay. Thank you very much. Um, so um we will be um submitting those four names for reappointment to the city council. The appointments will be made at the December 13th. [0:12:39, 0:12:41]: City Council meeting. [0:12:43, 0:12:49]: So please mark that in your calendars, the December thirteenth city council meeting. [0:12:50, 0:13:01]: And that kind of gives me a segue into the fact that City Hall is now open for meetings. Um, we've opened to the public. We had been closed for the entire um [0:13:02, 0:13:05]: Covid um pandemic um [0:13:05, 0:13:05]: M. [0:13:06, 0:13:09]: We were doing that in um extreme caution. [0:13:09, 0:13:14]: Um for the safety of the public and for the safety of our staff, city hall staff. [0:13:15, 0:13:16]: But the building has now been open. [0:13:17, 0:13:20]: So that leads me to ask the board. [0:13:20, 0:13:25]: How you all would like to proceed with regard to our meetings? [0:13:25, 0:13:28]: Um we can remain virtual. [0:13:28, 0:13:33]: Or we can um change to an in-person um meeting format. [0:13:35, 0:13:36]: And um [0:13:36, 0:13:43]: In some instances, um, a hybrid type situation is available, but unfortunately. [0:13:43, 0:13:47]: With our current setup in the Levi room, there is not really [0:13:48, 0:13:49]: Um the [0:13:49, 0:13:52]: Технології авелево фор. [0:13:53, 0:13:56]: A hybrid meeting where you could choose to either be um [0:13:57, 0:14:06]: in person or on Zoom. So it's it's kind of an all or nothing with regard to our current technology in that particular meeting room. [0:14:07, 0:14:07]: Um [0:14:08, 0:14:10]: So, I would like to hear some. [0:14:11, 0:14:14]: Quick discussion as to whether you all would like to return to [0:14:15, 0:14:17]: in person or if you would like to remain virtual. [0:14:18, 0:14:20]: Or if you would like to um [0:14:20, 0:14:27]: remain virtual for a certain period of time and then return to in-person meeting. So do we have anyone with [0:14:27, 0:14:29]: I think Miss Reed, yes, Miss Reed. [0:14:29, 0:14:42]: I would like to recommend, I thought about it immediately, that we finish this year out, because it's at the end of the year virtual, if it's okay with everyone, and then make a decision starting the first of the year as to what direction we should be heading in. [0:14:43, 0:14:45]: Okay. It's Miss Reed's [0:14:45, 0:14:47]: Suggestion to [0:14:47, 0:14:55]: Um continue until some point in next year to decide what we would like to move forward with. Is there any other discussion on that? [0:14:56, 0:14:58]: That's actually exactly what I was gonna say. [0:14:59, 0:15:02]: I like the way you said that. So yes, I agree with Miss Reed. [0:15:03, 0:15:05]: Okay, Greg, I think you raised your hand. [0:15:06, 0:15:25]: Yeah, I I I I agree with uh Miss Reed as well, uh, but making the note that it it appears that cases are on the rise again. And as I think we should review it the first of the year after everybody has gathered for the holiday to see what the situation pans out to be before we decide to meet in person again. Okay. [0:15:26, 0:15:34]: And I would even recommend that um not necessarily the January meeting, but maybe the February or March meeting so that we can see what the [0:15:35, 0:15:37]: Um results are for the um [0:15:37, 0:15:39]: Holiday as Greg has mentioned. [0:15:40, 0:15:40]: Um [0:15:41, 0:15:42]: So and the [0:15:42, 0:15:46]: Ms. Reid, would you like to frame your um suggestion in a motion? [0:15:50, 0:15:51]: You're on mute, huh? [0:15:56, 0:15:58]: A little bit. Okay, I I apologize. [0:15:59, 0:16:00]: I motion that we [0:16:01, 0:16:15]: do have the meeting for the rest of the year as virtual and sometime in January, February, March timeframe that we make a decision based on the numbers after the holiday. [0:16:15, 0:16:25]: That's a long motion, I know, but you gave me three different months. Can you narrow it down to one month for us to for February? February? Okay. [0:16:30, 0:16:34]: Really? Straighten the emotion out for me, please. [0:16:34, 0:16:35]: I got you. [0:16:35, 0:16:36]: I got you. [0:16:36, 0:16:38]: Well like that. [0:16:38, 0:16:40]: I carry that for you, Blue. I got you. [0:16:40, 0:16:42]: Okay, Mr. Hopkins. [0:16:43, 0:16:44]: All right, thank you, Madam Director. [0:16:45, 0:16:45]: Uh [0:16:46, 0:16:49]: You've heard the motion, uh the motion Ms. Reed stated was [0:16:49, 0:16:58]: Uh we uh the Main Street Board will remain virtually until the month of February. We'll assess it at that time. Uh the second in reference to that. [0:16:58, 0:16:59]: I'll second that. [0:17:01, 0:17:05]: All right, it's been moved by Miss Reed and properly second by was that Miss Jones? [0:17:07, 0:17:08]: No, Miss Finley. [0:17:08, 0:17:14]: Ms. Finley, I'm sorry. Ms. Finley, um, are there any discussion in reference to the motion at this present time? [0:17:16, 0:17:21]: Hearing none, uh I asked for a vote at this time. Will it hope and I say yes, Miss Reed. [0:17:21, 0:17:21]: Yes. [0:17:22, 0:17:24]: Uh Mr. Horton. [0:17:24, 0:17:25]: Yes. [0:17:25, 0:17:26]: Mr. Furch. [0:17:28, 0:17:30]: Yes. Miss Richardson. [0:17:31, 0:17:32]: Yes. [0:17:33, 0:17:33]: Miss Belly. [0:17:35, 0:17:36]: Yes. [0:17:36, 0:17:37]: Miss Jones. [0:17:38, 0:17:38]: Yes. [0:17:39, 0:17:42]: That motion will approve by major uh by unanimous vote. [0:17:42, 0:18:02]: Thank you for voting that. And I think um that's a great opportunity for us as well. Um to just like I said, look at those numbers to see where we are. And I think we've gotten accustomed to the virtual setting, but it's also uh gonna be pleasing to for everybody to get back together to some sense of normacy, but this may be our norm at some point in time. But [0:18:02, 0:18:04]: Thank you all so much for voting on that. [0:18:05, 0:18:07]: Okay. [0:18:07, 0:18:08]: Thank you, sir. [0:18:08, 0:18:13]: All right, um as for our update on our city projects, um [0:18:14, 0:18:17]: We do have the both the um [0:18:18, 0:18:26]: One fourteen white box pro one fourteen MLK white box project and the Ted Strickland remodel. [0:18:26, 0:18:28]: Both of those um [0:18:28, 0:18:31]: projects have gone to bed and we are in the [0:18:31, 0:18:34]: Um process f of selecting a contractor now. [0:18:35, 0:18:38]: Uh, with the Ted Strickland, we are down to the final. [0:18:38, 0:18:39]: Um [0:18:39, 0:18:46]: five bidders that are going to be considered and then with the Ted Strickland we're down to those finalists as well. [0:18:46, 0:18:50]: So we should be making a decision with regard to which contractor [0:18:50, 0:18:52]: We will be going with the do the work. [0:18:53, 0:18:56]: Um, I'm thinking by the end of next week. So after that. [0:18:56, 0:19:03]: Um, it'll just be a matter of setting up the timeline for getting both of those com projects completed. So I am very excited. [0:19:04, 0:19:09]: about the movement on those particular projects. Once it goes to fit, it moves pretty quickly. [0:19:09, 0:19:16]: It's just getting to the bid process. It takes a little bit of time, but we are moving forward with those two projects. [0:19:16, 0:19:21]: With regard to the alleyway project, um there is a meeting scheduled for [0:19:21, 0:19:22]: Um later. [0:19:22, 0:19:26]: Next week that um I'll be meeting with the engineers. [0:19:26, 0:19:30]: to um look over the tweaks that they made based on our um [0:19:31, 0:19:33]: Some of our feedback that we received. [0:19:33, 0:19:36]: And um then we'll be taking that again. [0:19:36, 0:19:38]: Um to the [0:19:38, 0:19:39]: Property [0:19:39, 0:19:40]: owners in the [0:19:40, 0:19:43]: Um that downtown area that will be impacted by those. [0:19:44, 0:19:45]: That particular project. [0:19:46, 0:19:48]: Um, also I wanted to report that. [0:19:49, 0:19:49]: The [0:19:50, 0:19:50]: Um [0:19:51, 0:19:57]: DDA, joint DDA Main Street Work Plan Committees have finally started meeting. [0:19:57, 0:20:01]: The downtown beautification and um [0:20:01, 0:20:03]: activation committee met this week. [0:20:03, 0:20:07]: And the downtown um design and connectivity. [0:20:07, 0:20:12]: Um committee they have also met this month. So we have gone over the work plan. [0:20:13, 0:20:17]: Um and when the where there has been some need for tweak that has been done. [0:20:18, 0:20:23]: And everyone has had homework assignments and they're going to be coming back to us next month. [0:20:23, 0:20:25]: Uh, for more discussion and [0:20:26, 0:20:28]: setting the task [0:20:28, 0:20:28]: Um [0:20:29, 0:20:30]: Seven um [0:20:31, 0:20:33]: Setting up our tasks, making sure that we're [0:20:33, 0:20:34]: Working [0:20:34, 0:20:37]: The work we are doing the work of the work plan. [0:20:38, 0:20:40]: And making sure that we [0:20:40, 0:20:42]: uh move those items forward. [0:20:42, 0:20:46]: In addition, um, we are going to be [0:20:46, 0:20:50]: Trying to get on the December thirteenth agenda. [0:20:50, 0:20:56]: To ask for the city council to approve our work plan. [0:20:56, 0:20:59]: And this is um something that [0:20:59, 0:21:02]: We definitely need to do. I know Greg. [0:21:02, 0:21:07]: Um, had some comments at the end of our last meeting speaking to the fact that [0:21:08, 0:21:10]: We sometimes have projects that [0:21:11, 0:21:14]: We are trying to move forward and we don't always get. [0:21:14, 0:21:20]: council approval and or council buy-in to those particular projects and things stall or [0:21:21, 0:21:22]: Get taken off the table. [0:21:22, 0:21:23]: All together. [0:21:23, 0:21:25]: And so in an effort to [0:21:26, 0:21:33]: Quail that type of situation, we are going to be taking our work plan to the city council for their approval. [0:21:33, 0:21:35]: So this is them saying, Hey. [0:21:35, 0:21:40]: We are okay with everything that you all are planning to do over the next year. [0:21:40, 0:21:43]: And years to follow to support that particular plan. [0:21:44, 0:21:47]: Um we had some council members at our [0:21:47, 0:21:49]: Um retreat. [0:21:49, 0:21:51]: And they participated in [0:21:51, 0:21:58]: were in favor of the items that were added to that work plan. And so we just want to get [0:21:58, 0:21:59]: Um [0:21:59, 0:22:04]: Like I said, approval, buy-in, whatever you want to call that from the entire council. [0:22:05, 0:22:09]: so that we won't have situations where we're moving forward doing work. [0:22:09, 0:22:11]: Um as a board. [0:22:11, 0:22:17]: both Main Street and DDA putting in work, putting in um time and effort, and then to have that [0:22:17, 0:22:19]: particular project or idea. [0:22:20, 0:22:22]: Stymied or taken off the table. [0:22:23, 0:22:29]: Are there any questions with regard to the work plan committees, the projects that we're working on, or anything that I've [0:22:29, 0:22:31]: Um mentioned thus far. [0:22:33, 0:22:39]: Okay, again, I know I'm kind of moving fast, so just wanted to make sure that you all had an opportunity to [0:22:39, 0:22:40]: Chime in if you needed to. [0:22:41, 0:22:53]: Um, the next thing is um the support of our small business blitz that is going on right now and also our small business Saturday, which will be happening on November the 27th. [0:22:53, 0:22:55]: We're um [0:22:55, 0:22:58]: Doing media updates on our um [0:22:59, 0:23:00]: Social media [0:23:00, 0:23:05]: And Lisa has been working very diligently um with some of our [0:23:05, 0:23:08]: New participants this year. [0:23:08, 0:23:17]: To put together videos. As you all will recall, we have done videos for the past years with different Main Street businesses or different [0:23:17, 0:23:20]: Shop small businesses, shop small participants. [0:23:21, 0:23:27]: And we're trying to continue that tradition so that we pull in even more of our businesses that can be featured. [0:23:27, 0:23:29]: In these little vignettes. [0:23:29, 0:23:33]: Um, Lisa, are you able to queue up um one of the [0:23:33, 0:23:38]: Commercial not commercials, but spot ad spots that we've put together. [0:23:38, 0:23:41]: Um, this one is just an overview that we put together. [0:23:41, 0:23:44]: Just to give people encouragement to come out. [0:23:44, 0:23:46]: We're also doing um [0:23:46, 0:23:50]: As I said, videos with some of our new participants from this year. [0:23:51, 0:23:52]: So Lisa, if you [0:23:53, 0:23:54]: Share your screen. [0:23:54, 0:23:57]: Are you able are you all seeing Lisa screen? [0:23:58, 0:24:06]: Um, I hope so. Um, because it just for some reason decided to disappear on me. So give me give me a second, I'm gonna find it again. [0:24:10, 0:24:11]: Yes. [0:24:13, 0:24:14]: Here it comes. [0:25:49, 0:26:06]: Um there are seven individual businesses. This video this little video is the eighth one. And we've been trying to stick with eight each year. It doesn't always work out. [0:26:44, 0:26:52]: Uh in the next couple of days so that it's out before Small Business Saturday. And we'll let those run till the end of the year actually. [0:26:53, 0:27:00]: So be sure to um stay connected to Main Street's social media, our Facebook page will be putting them [0:27:00, 0:27:05]: Showing them there. Also the city of Stockbridge will be rolling them as well. [0:27:05, 0:27:06]: So uh we're [0:27:07, 0:27:12]: Trying to get a good collection. We've done some in the past. Um, Greg has done one, Linda has done one. [0:27:12, 0:27:18]: Um several other businesses. Like you say, we've we've got a pretty good collection of videos that we'll be able to run. [0:27:18, 0:27:20]: The entire um [0:27:20, 0:27:31]: week of Thanksgiving and then um for small business Saturday and into the holiday season. So we're really proud of those. And I need everyone to give Lisa a hand because she has been [0:27:32, 0:27:39]: Just running ragged trying to get these things done. And um thank you, Lisa, for all the work that you're putting into this particular promotion. [0:27:40, 0:27:43]: And then awesome thank you to board members, Greg Horton. [0:27:43, 0:27:59]: Um he put the passport together and that is no easy task, let me tell you. Um just getting it, getting people to respond with their logos and letting him know whether they're gonna be open and what their hours are and what their specials are. [0:27:59, 0:28:00]: It's been um [0:28:01, 0:28:09]: Definitely a labor of love. So, Greg, thank you so much for taking over that part of the process. And then also recruiting businesses. Um [0:28:09, 0:28:13]: Prayer, Linda, both of you have been very instrumental in. [0:28:14, 0:28:17]: Um bringing businesses on board to participate. [0:28:17, 0:28:22]: Um so everyone that has done anything around this particular promotion, thank you so much. [0:28:23, 0:28:27]: Because this year we decided to do it for the entire month of November. [0:28:27, 0:28:34]: And so that kind with the amphitheater opening, trying to get this started for the entire month as opposed to just the one day. [0:28:34, 0:28:39]: It has been very um hectic and so everyone has been asked to. [0:28:39, 0:28:40]: Kinda do [0:28:40, 0:28:41]: Um [0:28:41, 0:28:49]: double duty on this. So I really do appreciate all the effort that everyone has put into this. And now I'm asking all of our board members [0:28:49, 0:28:54]: to get the word out, get your friends, your family, everyone that you know. [0:31:24, 0:31:26]: Um and especially on uh [0:31:27, 0:31:28]: The Saturday after Thanksgiving. [0:31:28, 0:31:39]: Please send me photos of yourself or whoever you're with at that shopping location so that I can post them on Facebook and this will generate a lot more interest. [0:31:39, 0:31:41]: Yes. Thanks, Lisa. [0:31:42, 0:32:02]: And that leads me into uh celebrating a very special business.
