She's a retired teacher, so [0:07:53, 0:08:03]: They have one list for um they're in Maryland and she does substitute teaching. So the teachers are getting vaccinated there. So they have the substitutes on a [0:08:03, 0:08:04]: waiting list they're gonna [0:08:05, 0:08:08]: Um, vaccinate all of the full time teachers, then substitutes. [0:20:26, 0:20:31]: Any questions, concerns, discussion regarding this um new budget? [0:20:39, 0:20:42]: Very little usage, yay. [0:20:43, 0:20:50]: All right. Uh if we do not have any discussion concerns regarding it, can we please have a motion to approve it as presented? [0:20:51, 0:20:51]: Madam Chair. [0:20:52, 0:20:53]: Yes, this support. [0:20:53, 0:20:54]: Mr. Hopkins. [0:20:55, 0:21:02]: Uh that's okay. Me and Grid look alike, so that's my brother from the brother. I know I do this. I don't know why. [0:21:03, 0:21:13]: Uh madam chair, I move that we accept the financial statement ending in January 31st, 2021 and placed in the uh archives for future auditing purposes. [0:21:14, 0:21:17]: Thank you, sir. Do we have a second? [0:21:19, 0:21:21]: I'll second the motion. [0:21:22, 0:21:23]: Thank you, Miss Jones. [0:21:24, 0:21:28]: Okay, we will now take it to a vote. Mr. Ho Mr. Hopkins. [0:21:28, 0:21:28]: Great. [0:21:29, 0:21:33]: Thank you, sir. Mr. Horton approves the financial statement per Zoom. [0:21:34, 0:21:35]: Miss Jones. [0:21:37, 0:21:40]: Thank you, ma'am. Miss Pottshi approved. [0:21:40, 0:21:41]: Miss Reed. [0:21:42, 0:21:42]: Because [0:21:43, 0:21:44]: Thank you, ma'am. [0:21:44, 0:21:45]: And Mr. Thomas. [0:21:46, 0:21:46]: Approved. [0:21:47, 0:21:47]: Thank you. [0:21:48, 0:21:51]: For uh purposes this moves and the uh [0:21:51, 0:21:54]: Budget is approved and ready to go. [0:21:54, 0:22:06]: Before we move on to our next agenda item, I did want to circle back to the attendance really quick to see if there's been any change in the remaining members who were originally marked absent. Is Mr. Shamari Firch on the call? [0:22:08, 0:22:10]: The meeting rather, Mr. Birch. [0:22:11, 0:22:12]: Miss Barber Richardson. [0:22:15, 0:22:16]: Barber Richardson. [0:22:17, 0:22:19]: And Pamela Sanders. [0:22:20, 0:22:22]: Pamela Sanders. [0:22:22, 0:22:23]: Okay, thank you. [0:22:23, 0:22:28]: Um we now turn the meeting over to our Main Street manager for her report, Miss Briggs. [0:22:29, 0:22:32]: Thank you, Madam Chair, and good morning to everyone. [0:22:33, 0:22:43]: on this gray day. Hopefully everyone is doing well and staying safe out there. It's great to see everyone in attendance. [0:22:43, 0:22:48]: Um with regard to my report, we just have a a few um [0:22:49, 0:22:54]: pieces of old business and then uh we will move into um [0:22:54, 0:22:58]: our mural project presentation under old business as well. [0:22:59, 0:22:59]: Um [0:23:00, 0:23:16]: First, um, I just wanted to remind everyone that um we have some board member positions available. Um we still need an arts organization representative, and as you all know, uh we now can cast that web out. [0:23:16, 0:23:21]: that net out a little farther into Henry County. So if you know of [0:23:21, 0:23:24]: an an arts organization um [0:23:25, 0:23:31]: representative who would be interested in serving on the Main Street advisory board. [0:23:31, 0:23:35]: Please ask them to apply. The application is available. [0:23:36, 0:23:42]: on the website, the city's website, and it's a fillable form on the website. It has to be done. [0:23:42, 0:23:43]: Um online. [0:23:44, 0:23:57]: We also need a to fill the position for a landscape architect or interior designer. It can be someone in either one of those professions to serve on the board as well. [0:23:58, 0:24:01]: I would like to also announce that we have a new board member. [0:24:01, 0:24:08]: Um, she will be joining us at our next meeting. Her name is Rocio Camacho. [0:24:08, 0:24:14]: And um some of you may be familiar with um Rocio, she was very active. [0:24:14, 0:24:21]: Um a few years ago with the Main Street program and city events when we were staging the [0:24:22, 0:24:27]: Hispanifest celebration here in the city of Stockbridge in conjunction with Bridge Fest. [0:24:28, 0:24:32]: So she was very active and um in the planning of that event. [0:24:33, 0:24:43]: And she also um has been very helpful to the Main Street program with regard to reaching our Hispanic, Latino and um [0:24:44, 0:24:44]: Um [0:24:44, 0:24:50]: Spanish communities here in the Stockbridge area. She um [0:24:50, 0:24:53]: Helped us when we were working on the RSVP program. [0:24:54, 0:25:04]: um in helping us to bring together um a cultural diverse culturally diverse focus group for the RSVP so she has um [0:25:05, 0:25:15]: Thankfully agreed to be a part of our board and she will be um sitting in the position of a main a business outside of the Main Street district. [0:25:15, 0:25:20]: So um I look forward to welcoming her to our next meeting. [0:25:20, 0:25:26]: in March and um hopefully you all will be able to um [0:25:26, 0:25:35]: get an opportunity to talk with her a little bit offline. If you know Rocio, um be sure to congratulate her and welcome her to the board. [0:25:37, 0:25:44]: Okay, and at this point I would like to um introduce to you all again um Mr. John Christian. [0:25:45, 0:25:50]: He is um a mural artist. Um out of he is based out of Hapeville, Georgia. [0:25:51, 0:25:54]: Um, as you know, we received a um [0:25:54, 0:25:58]: Grant from his organization and I'll let him um [0:25:59, 0:26:04]: tell you a little bit about give you just a um recap of his organization. [0:26:04, 0:26:22]: And then we're going to talk a little bit about the mural concepts that I sent to you all. Again, these are concepts. This is not the final work project. This is just something to kind of get our um minds um moving in the same direction and [0:26:22, 0:26:29]: Uh we will be taking your feedback during the presentation. So um, John, I'd like to hand it over to you. [0:26:29, 0:26:31]: Hello, how's everybody doing? [0:26:31, 0:26:32]: Right. [0:26:33, 0:26:53]: Um our organization basically what we do is um we focus on murals and public art um consulting. And uh we we've started off as a mandate as painting 50 murals in 50 cities in five years. Um I'm up to 31 cities, but I've got 43 murals that we've completed uh just in that time frame. [0:26:53, 0:26:58]: Prior to that, you know, I've had art centers and I've had other organizations throughout the years. [0:26:58, 0:27:01]: Uh this particular project um [0:27:02, 0:27:05]: Me and uh Kier has been working on for over a year now. [0:27:05, 0:27:07]: Uh and um [0:27:07, 0:27:13]: Basically, I'm really looking forward to uh doing this and it's something uniquely different and it's saluting [0:27:14, 0:27:24]: So not only the city, but also uh Daddy King is a possibility and and I think that's uh you know, a great opportunity uh an opportunity for myself as well. [0:27:25, 0:27:26]: So um [0:27:26, 0:27:31]: Anyway, um did you want to talk about the designs uh now or [0:27:31, 0:27:51]: Yes, I'm going to just um refresh everyone's memory as to uh where the murals are targeted um to be placed and then um I will share my screen and we can um just quickly look at each design and then um discuss each one. Everyone should have a copy. [0:27:51, 0:27:54]: of the designs in your meeting materials packet. [0:27:55, 0:27:56]: Um [0:27:56, 0:28:05]: And you will be able to kind of make notes on your document, and we will be able to um discuss. [0:28:05, 0:28:18]: The concepts, whether you like them, whether you don't like them, anything that you'd like to add to the concepts, and we'll discuss those possibilities with John. So let me try to share my screen really quick. [0:28:19, 0:28:20]: Please here. [0:28:22, 0:28:22]: Okay. [0:28:27, 0:28:28]: Okay. [0:28:35, 0:28:36]: Okay. [0:28:36, 0:28:41]: This is um concept that we're gonna call concept number one. [0:28:42, 0:28:54]: Um, this is just a general um stock bridge um welcome sign. It does pay some homage to um Dr. Martin Luther King Senior, Daddy King. [0:28:54, 0:28:58]: Um and just welcoming people to Stockbridge. [0:28:58, 0:29:00]: And then the next one. [0:29:00, 0:29:08]: Is another version of that particular um welcome to Stock Bridge sign. We're calling that number design number two. [0:29:09, 0:29:10]: And [0:29:12, 0:29:14]: This is design number three. [0:29:14, 0:29:27]: Another welcome to Stockbridge um sign, but this kind of um has an homage to trains and we were thinking that this one is more of a a childlike whimsical type design. [0:29:28, 0:29:31]: Um that we could use um [0:29:33, 0:29:34]: And uh oh. [0:29:34, 0:29:36]: Okay, there it is. [0:29:36, 0:29:52]: And then there is no number four. Sorry about that. We misnumbered those. But then we have five and six. These are pictorial designs that give homage to Reverend Martin Luther King Sr. [0:29:53, 0:30:07]: um also looks at his early life. And then the second one is one that looks at his um older life and some of the things that he's accomplished. And again, these are concept designs. They uh [0:30:08, 0:30:09]: What happened here? [0:30:11, 0:30:19]: Um, okay, these are concept designs just to kind of get us thinking in terms of what we would like to see with regard to the mural. [0:30:20, 0:30:25]: Um you all have the documents there so you can take them out and and make your um [0:30:26, 0:30:32]: Notes. Now the locations for these murals, the welcome mural, um we have [0:30:32, 0:30:42]: two locations. The first location is the um sidewall that is right off of Herrell Street by the [0:30:42, 0:30:44]: Um elementary school. [0:30:45, 0:30:49]: That is a six foot tall wall that um [0:30:49, 0:30:58]: is on a down slope. So it starts at six feet and then it goes all the way down to um two feet in height. So that one has a decline in it. [0:30:59, 0:30:59]: The [0:31:00, 0:31:01]: Second location [0:31:02, 0:31:04]: Um for the welcome sign. [0:31:05, 0:31:07]: And this is kind of a pie in the sky. [0:31:08, 0:31:11]: type location. It is on the side of [0:31:12, 0:31:14]: Um Oglesby's Realty. [0:31:14, 0:31:19]: That is in the downtown area. You see that building right when you come over the bridge. [0:31:19, 0:31:26]: Um, so far Mr. Oglesby has not been as amenable as we would like for him to. [0:31:27, 0:31:43]: to um allow us to put the welcome sign on the side of his building, but we're still trying to work on him to see if he will um do so. I think that once we have a design to actually show him and he's able to visualize what that can look like. [0:31:43, 0:31:51]: He might be a little bit more um interested in allowing us to um place the mural on the side of his building. [0:31:51, 0:31:53]: And of course, this would require. [0:31:53, 0:31:57]: Um an agreement between the um city. [0:31:57, 0:31:59]: And um Mr. Oglesby. [0:32:00, 0:32:02]: So if that does come to fruition, we will [0:32:03, 0:32:05]: Нічю м окурс. [0:32:05, 0:32:07]: Engage um [0:32:07, 0:32:11]: The um city manager, the um [0:32:11, 0:32:18]: Community development director and the city council to make sure that that um agreement is created and [0:32:18, 0:32:20]: is in um [0:32:20, 0:32:21]: Is [0:32:23, 0:32:25]: is agreeable to all parties. [0:32:25, 0:32:28]: And then uh we had the [0:32:28, 0:32:41]: five and six those murals five and six concepts those are what we are calling our panel murals these are murals that will be placed on panels and be um [0:32:41, 0:32:42]: Yes. [0:32:42, 0:32:45]: Excuse me, Clear, if there's some feedback. [0:32:45, 0:32:47]: Oh, they just present it. [0:32:48, 0:32:53]: I think it might be Greg. He's just coming on and he might have his speaker on as well. [0:32:53, 0:32:55]: Yes. Thar that [0:32:55, 0:32:56]: Okay. [0:32:56, 0:32:57]: That's okay. [0:32:58, 0:32:59]: Can you all hear me now? [0:33:01, 0:33:15]: Okay. Um and then the five and six, those are murals that we are planning for the Breezeway area that would be on panels on the side of the what is now called the Ted Strickland. [0:33:15, 0:33:19]: Community center, which will be the welcome center and Main Street program office. [0:33:19, 0:33:26]: These will be on panels and can be removed. So they will not be painted directly onto the bricks. [0:33:26, 0:33:31]: They will be m be able to be moved if we need to. [0:33:32, 0:33:37]: move them to another location or um no longer want them on the side of the building. [0:33:37, 0:33:38]: They [0:33:39, 0:33:46]: Um here recently um that has been kind of a trend. Um Lisa and I um were just talking about this where [0:33:46, 0:33:52]: Um, they have had some murals that are kind of traveling um to different cities, different main street cities. [0:33:52, 0:33:55]: Have been sharing their murals with communities. [0:33:55, 0:33:58]: That do not have them in their cities. [0:33:58, 0:33:59]: Um [0:33:59, 0:34:07]: They let them borrow them for certain periods of time for special art presentations, especially during this um COVID environment. [0:34:07, 0:34:11]: Just to give people something to come to their downtowns. [0:34:11, 0:34:14]: and view. So that's something that might be [0:34:14, 0:34:24]: um available to us as well. So I think first what we have to do is allow Mr. Christian to talk to us a little bit about each design. [0:34:25, 0:34:30]: And uh what he was thinking and then uh we'll get some feedback from you all as well. [0:34:31, 0:34:38]: Okay. Um first uh the whole idea of sharing murals, that's the first I've heard of that and I don't know anyone doing that. So [0:34:38, 0:34:49]: That was a great opportunity for these types of panels, you know, if we want to, you know, do that as well. Uh well basically um if we start off with uh talking about the wall at the school. [0:34:49, 0:34:55]: Uh that would be like the it's the one that's six and a half feet tall and it goes down, but it's it's very long wall. [0:34:55, 0:35:01]: Uh the um challenges with that wall is the fact that it's not high. [0:35:01, 0:35:19]: Uh now we could also whatever we put there could be also be on panels to make it taller. So uh usually uh when you paint a mural, you start it let's say knee high or two feet from the ground and then go up let's say eight or ten feet or however. We could actually um [0:35:19, 0:35:26]: do let's say a 30 or 40 foot section of that wall and install poles to put it on like a billboard. [0:35:26, 0:35:28]: Up against that wall. [0:35:28, 0:35:35]: to give it a better uh exposure. Uh now obviously that's just an idea. It's not to say that we can't do something [0:35:36, 0:35:38]: Just six feet high, but I just thought I'd throw that out. [0:35:39, 0:35:46]: So there's an option to do that. And then uh now the whole idea with the train concept with that wall. [0:35:46, 0:35:58]: was the fact that it would make sense because it's slower f lower and not so high that we could do something that might be really long and then have if you look inside, I guess that's drawn design number three. [0:35:59, 0:36:01]: Um yeah. [0:36:01, 0:36:02]: One with the train. [0:36:03, 0:36:08]: The the idea with the train concept was to basically make it more kid friendly. [0:36:09, 0:36:12]: And inside the windows of the train. [0:36:12, 0:36:32]: we could have different people in the train doing different things. Uh it could be all kids. It could be some famous people maybe in the windows. Uh maybe um it could be an educational type thing where we have uh um kids doing different things. Uh so um [0:36:32, 0:36:34]: Anyway, that's um [0:36:35, 0:36:46]: Uh that's my idea, our ideas for that. Uh and John, if I could just um jump in real quick, you see a little depiction of a little um cartoon lion. [0:36:46, 0:37:01]: on the end of that particular um train right their little mascot at Stockbridge Elementary is the um tiger. I said lion, it's a tiger. So maybe we can incorporate the tiger into the um train as well. [0:37:01, 0:37:13]: So just think of the little windows filled with um diverse people doing diverse things and just um a whimsical look to that particular train. [0:37:13, 0:37:19]: Um also a part of our grant from the um [0:37:19, 0:37:21]: Georgia um arts council. [0:37:22, 0:37:30]: Is um part of our grant when we wrote that request was to allow children to participate in an art day. [0:37:31, 0:37:36]: where they would actually be able to assist with painting the mural. [0:37:37, 0:37:38]: So [0:37:38, 0:37:41]: Um, we thought that this would also be a concept that [0:37:42, 0:37:56]: the kids could get involved with and be excited about because they would be able to assist with the painting. Now, COVID has happened, school has been kind of sketchy as far as being in-person and being um [0:37:57, 0:38:11]: virtual so we would of course have to see what is available to us with regard to that. We might have to also um look at assistance from our Stockbridge Youth Council. [0:38:12, 0:38:15]: Um, if we cannot get the assistance from the school. [0:38:15, 0:38:16]: Um [0:38:16, 0:38:22]: But this is a concept that we thought would be kid friendly and community friendly. [0:38:22, 0:38:25]: And would allow for some interaction. [0:38:25, 0:38:30]: um with the community as being a part of the actual creation of the mural. [0:38:31, 0:38:32]: Okay. [0:38:33, 0:38:40]: An another thought too, um, with that wall being very long, uh if I'm not mistaken, it's over a hundred feet long, but it gets narrower and narrower. [0:38:40, 0:38:43]: We can just extend the length of the train. [0:38:43, 0:38:59]: where the kids can actually we'll just move move, let's say the caboose of the of the train would be painted on panels that would actually attach to the brick wall. And then we can just move the caboose down as we add train cars. Uh we could also um [0:38:59, 0:39:09]: have the windows blank or let's say we paint some of the windows with certain people in them doing different things and then leave the insides of the windows blank. [0:39:09, 0:39:15]: For the art teacher to have other kids add different things to inside the windows, they can actually [0:39:15, 0:39:18]: Paint the kids in the windows. That's an idea. [0:39:19, 0:39:31]: We could also maybe make the train uh a circus train, maybe that's an idea. Cause seeing how we have the tiger uh is their mascot, he could potentially be I can envision him being kind of like the uh [0:39:31, 0:39:39]: uh the ring masker maybe with the top hat and all uh so there's cool things we can do associated [0:39:39, 0:39:41]: with the school and also the mascot. [0:39:42, 0:39:46]: So um can I get any input or questions for that design? [0:39:52, 0:40:00]: This is a Nika Pods. I absolutely love Hi, the uh train idea and making it something where [0:40:00, 0:40:07]: One is sustainable and um interactive for the community, for the kids, educational. [0:40:07, 0:40:20]: um it can um uh convert, it can evolve, it wouldn't be stagnant um if we can kind of incorporate a a number of the things that you are stating and what Ms. Braggs has stated. [0:40:20, 0:40:40]: Um, I really like the concept and because it's uh the city, I'm assuming, we wouldn't have to hope that the owner allows us to utilize the space. We can probably super quickly. So the city actually owns that wall, so we don't have to worry about that. Yeah. So I I think it's wonderful. I love it. [0:40:40, 0:40:47]: Well that that's great. Um actually to that point, um a li a living mural, if that's you know,'cause it's so long. [0:40:47, 0:40:49]: Each year they can add something to it. [0:40:49, 0:40:51]: Or we can make um [0:40:51, 0:40:52]: Think of it this way. [0:40:53, 0:41:03]: If you are an art teacher and you have the windows and the windows are all the same size or whatever of the train, she can actually have those done up on little panels that she can actually have the kids draw'em out. [0:41:03, 0:41:04]: In the classroom. [0:41:05, 0:41:09]: And then we can make them to where you just put them inside, like it can hook on. [0:41:09, 0:41:10]: Uh the mural. [0:41:11, 0:41:18]: Like uh, and then they can remove it for each year and then have a different group of kids um put their designs, and then what happens is. [0:41:19, 0:41:23]: at at the end of each year the um the kids get to take their [0:41:23, 0:41:24]: their picture home. [0:41:25, 0:41:26]: To go with the new group of kids. [0:41:26, 0:41:29]: So that mirror will always evolve. [0:41:29, 0:41:36]: The things that would not evolve would be the actual train mural part, and then it's just they just they just fill in what's inside the windows. [0:41:37, 0:41:38]: If that makes sense. [0:41:38, 0:41:41]: Uh and then we just we paint the the caboose. [0:41:42, 0:41:50]: on a piece of plywood that's you know marine plywood and just have it attached to the mural currently and then as we as we [0:41:50, 0:41:52]: Add cars to it, we'll just pick it up. [0:41:53, 0:41:57]: and attach it down down the road there to make it a much longer train. [0:41:57, 0:42:00]: But the first part of the mural, which would be let's say the first thirty feet or so. [0:42:01, 0:42:03]: Wouldn't change. It would just be the rest of it. [0:42:04, 0:42:05]: That's my thoughts. [0:42:07, 0:42:11]: Okay. Is there anyone else who'd like to comment on this particular [0:42:12, 0:42:13]: Um option. [0:42:17, 0:42:25]: Mrs. Bryg. Do you all like it? Do you hate it? Do you see something that needs to change? Like, for example, where community connects. [0:42:25, 0:42:37]: Um that's something that we um it's in green. Of course it's gonna have to be a different color so that you can see it better. Um do we want where community connects on that is the city of Stockbridge's tagline. [0:42:38, 0:42:42]: Um is it too many words on it? Do we want to have that? [0:42:43, 0:42:44]: Like the tree. [0:42:44, 0:42:45]: I like the train idea. Um [0:42:46, 0:42:47]: Children love the train. [0:42:48, 0:42:49]: That is it's like a [0:42:49, 0:42:51]: Exciting for them. [0:42:51, 0:42:54]: So he was talking about um [0:42:54, 0:42:57]: putting different pictures in [0:42:57, 0:43:04]: The windows, I I really like that because as they graduate and move on, other kids are able to join. [0:43:05, 0:43:07]: It's just like a ongoing excitement. [0:43:08, 0:43:10]: I so I like that. So yes, I like it. [0:43:12, 0:43:13]: I like that yeah. [0:43:14, 0:43:18]: Can I ask uh another question? What do y'all think of the idea of the possibility of [0:43:18, 0:43:24]: The first part of the mural on that wall would be on panels that'll be taller to make it more of a an impression. [0:43:25, 0:43:27]: Or do you are you okay with it just being six feet tall? [0:43:29, 0:43:30]: That's that was just the last thing. [0:43:31, 0:43:36]: Mrs. Bragg, this is Councilman Thomas. Uh I do like the ideal of it being a little taller. [0:43:37, 0:43:43]: My concern though is a lot of walking traffic there in that area and I raised this issue before. [0:43:43, 0:43:46]: about the uh possibility of graffiti. [0:43:46, 0:43:48]: Um so [0:43:50, 0:43:51]: How would you [0:43:52, 0:44:00]: come back to do touch ups if if necessary? That's a good good question. Uh this is what I do with uh with that concept. [0:44:00, 0:44:11]: I have been very fortunate that virtually none of my murals have had graffiti on them. I've had occasional put people putting mustaches and beards on uh images, but this is how we combat it. [0:44:12, 0:44:17]: Uh we put a top coat on the wall. It's like Thompson Water Seal Brick and Mortar. [0:44:17, 0:44:25]: And it's not the best top seal, but it's the best for this particular purpose. So what happens is if someone was to graffiti. [0:44:25, 0:44:30]: The mural it's on the actual top coat and all we do is pressure wash it off. [0:44:31, 0:44:33]: touch up we have to touch up and put another fresh coat on it. [0:44:34, 0:44:40]: If the f if the top coat was a much stronger top coat that's you can't ever get it off. [0:44:40, 0:45:00]: Then we wouldn't be able to do that and we'd have issues with removing the graffiti off the walls. So I found the Thompson brick and mortar water seal is the best choice to do that certain thing. And then every year or so, if there's an issue, we can, or if the femural starts to uh need be cleaned or whatever, you can [0:45:00, 0:45:06]: uh clean it, pressure wash it, and then put a fresh coat of top coat on it every few years. [0:45:06, 0:45:15]: And that helps maintain the wall. An another thing too, with the wall being so close, the mural being so far to the ground, usually I start at like two feet high. [0:45:15, 0:45:24]: There's always gonna be uh raindrop dust or dirt on the bottom two or three feet of the mural because of its there's grass there. [0:45:25, 0:45:41]: So i it'll splash up, you know what I mean? So it's gonna be an issue of keeping it clean. That's another reason I think painting the first part of it on panels uh to make it higher and also it would help give it better visibility and also potentially um protect it more. [0:45:41, 0:45:45]: And then course uh the the custodian at the school can [0:45:45, 0:45:49]: you know, clean it if it needs to be clean, you know, with the water hose and such. [0:45:50, 0:45:54]: Well and I was gonna comment on the panels. I I do like the the the higher virgin. [0:45:55, 0:46:00]: Uh, because I was gonna ask the question, did did anyone do a test drive over the bridge? [0:46:00, 0:46:02]: to to [0:46:02, 0:46:03]: Gauge. [0:46:03, 0:46:06]: The visibility uh coming over the bridge. [0:46:06, 0:46:07]: That's a good quote. [0:46:07, 0:46:16]: I have done a test drive and you can see it when you're coming down on the down slope when you're passing by the um [0:46:16, 0:46:17]: Barber shop. [0:46:18, 0:46:20]: Um but [0:46:20, 0:46:35]: You get the best, I guess, view of it when you are um s sitting there at the stoplight and you can see it from um three directions at the stoplight. If it was taller, you could probably see it, you know, for [0:46:35, 0:46:37]: Um earlier. [0:46:37, 0:46:37]: Um [0:46:37, 0:46:44]: for lack of a better way to describe it, you could probably see it a little earlier when you're coming down off of the bridge. [0:46:44, 0:46:45]: But um [0:46:46, 0:46:54]: Yeah, the the best view is when you are sitting at the stoplight in that four-way intersection where you can see it in three directions. [0:46:56, 0:47:01]: Also, uh, if I may say um there's a fence that stands on top of the brick wall, correct? [0:47:01, 0:47:03]: Yes. So [0:47:04, 0:47:07]: I'm guessing that's like a four foot high fence. I don't really know. [0:47:07, 0:47:09]: So what we potentially could do is make [0:47:10, 0:47:14]: extend the mural if we do it on panels the exact height at the top of the fence. [0:47:15, 0:47:20]: And we could paint the back of the um the mural the same color as the fence so it won't be um [0:47:20, 0:47:23]: Uh anything that would be real noticeable. [0:47:23, 0:47:26]: And so that could be a possibility as well. [0:47:27, 0:47:30]: I like that concept'cause it will give a little height to it. [0:47:32, 0:47:47]: So reality is if it let's say um it's uh uh four foot by eight foot panels and the the the panels won't start until two feet from the ground. So reality is it's gonna be about ten feet tall. And that's probably how tall the uh that fence is anyway. [0:47:47, 0:47:49]: And by doing it that way, um [0:47:50, 0:48:01]: The higher it goes, the more the larger the words stockbridge can be. Um versus and then you won't block too much of the train with the wording. If you look at the well, the design has the letters. [0:48:01, 0:48:04]: locking a lot of the uh images of the train. [0:48:04, 0:48:07]: Uh so that could also help with that part of it. [0:48:07, 0:48:10]: Then we uh uh we could also this just another idea. [0:48:10, 0:48:13]: We can also cut out the letters. [0:48:13, 0:48:14]: Um [0:48:14, 0:48:15]: Instead of it being [0:48:16, 0:48:16]: You know [0:48:17, 0:48:24]: straight pieces at the top, you know, like a flat piece. We can curve the letters, curve the cut the plywood to match the [0:48:25, 0:48:30]: letters. So it's like the letters are standing out. That's a another option, but of course that's a little more work, but [0:48:31, 0:48:32]: That's throwing that out. [0:48:33, 0:48:35]: Okay. I actually like that idea. [0:48:37, 0:48:39]: Well how about how how about this? [0:48:40, 0:48:41]: Just suggested for this design. [0:48:42, 0:48:44]: How about now that I've got some input? [0:48:44, 0:48:46]: And I'll do a design. [0:48:47, 0:48:49]: As if how it would look on panels. [0:48:49, 0:48:55]: as well as with the wall and then we can show individual pieces of how the train can potentially [0:48:55, 0:48:59]: The caboose can move to the other side of the wall and then we can have [0:48:59, 0:49:07]: how the the dimensions of the little windows and the kids can actually paint whatever they want inside the windows, it would be obviously [0:49:08, 0:49:11]: kids having fun or e maybe themselves a portrait of themselves. [0:49:12, 0:49:15]: And then every year they can uh take it home with them. [0:49:15, 0:49:17]: And then um [0:49:17, 0:49:24]: uh a new group of kids can put their pictures in the train. And I think that's a really cool idea. And I don't know anyone doing that uh that I'm aware of. [0:49:25, 0:49:31]: Um so uh would you like me to do that? Uh or is there other suggestions for this product? [0:49:32, 0:49:36]: Now I did want to mention that, you know, this is one option. [0:49:36, 0:49:49]: Um there's also one of the there the other two options of just the stock bridge, the word stock bridge. That was image uh one, if you all will look at that. [0:49:50, 0:49:57]: Um that would just be the word Stockbridge. Welcome to Stockbridge with um Martin Luther King Senior. [0:49:58, 0:50:02]: Um and inside the letters there would be um [0:50:03, 0:50:07]: different scenes around Stockbridge, like there might be [0:50:07, 0:50:08]: Um the [0:50:09, 0:50:13]: um water tower or there might be um [0:50:14, 0:50:19]: A picture of City Hall inside the letter. So as you can see, the letters kind of have [0:50:19, 0:50:22]: Pi pictures inside the letters. [0:50:22, 0:50:23]: Um [0:50:24, 0:50:34]: Would you all prefer to have something that looks more like this? Or is the train something that we want to go with in that particular spot? [0:50:35, 0:50:37]: Does anybody have an opinion about that? [0:50:38, 0:50:43]: Mrs. Brack, let me ask these questions if I may be before uh the the board chime in. [0:50:44, 0:50:45]: Um [0:50:45, 0:50:49]: Would location I know we talked about two locations. [0:50:49, 0:50:52]: Вот локація диктат. [0:50:53, 0:50:54]: Which mural [0:50:55, 0:50:59]: We would choose, meaning would one look better, say [0:50:59, 0:51:03]: Uh along the building or will one look better uh on the wall? [0:51:05, 0:51:05]: Um [0:51:06, 0:51:15]: To to to be quite frank, I think yes. Um, I would prefer to see the welcome to Stockbridge, the image number um one. [0:51:15, 0:51:26]: on the side of the building coming across the bridge where um Mr. Ogle Oglesby's building is because I think that that would have a more dramatic [0:51:27, 0:51:33]: um effect coming across the bridge and think about the fact that we will have people [0:51:33, 0:51:35]: Um, at some point [0:51:35, 0:51:39]: Um increased trafic during once the amphitheatre is created. [0:51:40, 0:51:48]: People will be um moving along that bridge um in greater numbers, so it will be more visible. And then also. [0:51:49, 0:51:51]: It's more visible to that traffic. [0:51:51, 0:51:53]: um on North Henry Boulevard. [0:51:54, 0:51:55]: Um the [0:51:56, 0:52:00]: site that is right there by the school of course is not as [0:52:01, 0:52:05]: dramatic a location for the one with the big stock bridge letters and [0:52:06, 0:52:14]: The pictorals. So I guess we need to first decide whether we want to go with the train or if we want to go with the more historic. [0:52:15, 0:52:15]: Um [0:52:16, 0:52:19]: Design for that wall. [0:52:21, 0:52:22]: Now the [0:52:22, 0:52:27]: Five and six designs that are um for the downtown area. [0:52:27, 0:52:28]: I think that [0:52:29, 0:52:35]: If we kind of keep our historic designs in that downtown area right there on um [0:52:36, 0:52:39]: Martin Luther King Senior Heritage Trail and [0:52:39, 0:52:55]: That would mean the side of the Oglesby's building and the Ted Strickland. We keep our historic murals in the downtown area. That is kind of what I would like to see, but I need to make sure that um [0:52:55, 0:53:01]: The board is in agreement and see what your opinion is. Would you all prefer a historic mural? [0:53:01, 0:53:02]: On her real. [0:53:03, 0:53:08]: Or would you prefer the whimsical mural on her rail? Can I can I make a comment before they chime in? [0:53:08, 0:53:22]: Yes. The reason why she wants to do that is the murals would be an attraction for people to go to that downtown area versus driving by and seeing it. I think that's what you pointed out to me the last time we talked. [0:53:22, 0:53:29]: Yes. Um, thank you for bringing that part up. The historic mur murals, we're looking at those to be a draw. [0:53:30, 0:53:36]: And we would want people to be able to get out of their cars, take photos, um [0:53:36, 0:53:39]: really, really delve into the murals. [0:53:39, 0:53:42]: Whereas the Horel street location [0:53:42, 0:53:49]: is a little busier, that's a busy intersection. And we were thinking that that mural would be a more passive mural. [0:53:50, 0:54:01]: location, but I still want to see how you all feel. Would you rather see a historic mural at that site, at that intersection, or the more whimsical passive mural? [0:54:01, 0:54:04]: And Mildred, I think you had your hand up. [0:54:04, 0:54:09]: You thank you. I uh personally I would like to see the uh more whimsical one. [0:54:09, 0:54:12]: On that wall because it's at the school area. [0:54:12, 0:54:14]: And it would also involve [0:54:15, 0:54:20]: the children uh getting involved and because it's in that area of the school. [0:54:21, 0:54:24]: Personally, I think it should be that way. The um [0:54:25, 0:54:27]: As far as the historical area. [0:54:28, 0:54:31]: And I believe you said planning on doing it in the breeze way. [0:54:31, 0:54:33]: A live man. [0:54:33, 0:54:37]: I like that concept in the Breezeway area. [0:54:38, 0:54:40]: So it uh the bridge? [0:54:40, 0:54:41]: Is that what you mean? [0:54:41, 0:54:42]: No, the bridge. [0:54:43, 0:54:49]: Uh the bridges well, excuse me, I was really referring to the area where Lindis [0:54:50, 0:55:02]: Um spidey is is that what you all were talking about? Yes, that's the breeze way. That's where the five and six are definitely gonna go. Okay if um if you all decide to go with the whimsical mural. [0:55:02, 0:55:14]: at Harrell Street by the school, then we would put try to get a historical mural on the side of Mr. Oglesby's building. Right. Okay. We don't want to have two [0:55:15, 0:55:23]: welcome the stockbridge historical murals and to you you understand what I'm saying? I understand what you're saying, but uh the welcome [0:55:24, 0:55:27]: I don't know that the welcome should be on the um [0:55:28, 0:55:34]: side of the build side of the wall, the wall itself. I don't think it's the word welcome to. [0:55:35, 0:55:39]: No, we can put Stockbridge in there, but I don't think welcome two should be okay. [0:55:39, 0:55:49]: on that we can take on which the whimsical one the whimsical one okay yeah just take well just take welcome to i mean if you want and where community connects [0:55:50, 0:55:55]: Maybe instead of saying Stockbridge, you can just move where community connects at the top. [0:55:56, 0:55:57]: In place of stock wage. [0:55:58, 0:55:58]: Okay. [0:55:58, 0:56:03]: Because that's very supposed to be very laid back, right? Right. And you [0:56:03, 0:56:04]: Go ahead. [0:56:04, 0:56:15]: I was gonna say and if we have welcome to Stockbridge on one mural, we won't say welcome to. It'll be a different message on the other mural. We just need to decide which design is gonna go where. [0:56:15, 0:56:22]: Yeah, so that we can present it to the council for their approval. Okay. Well the welcome too should be on the wall. [0:56:23, 0:56:25]: Uh the first concept. [0:56:25, 0:56:30]: Well, I guess I'm maybe I hope I'm not twisting this. But anyway, the welcome to [0:56:30, 0:56:34]: Should be at the bridge area where you can see it across the bridge. [0:56:35, 0:56:37]: I hope I'm looking at the right sign to do that. [0:56:37, 0:56:38]: Um [0:56:38, 0:56:44]: And the whimsical one with the train should be just that where community connect. [0:56:45, 0:56:51]: Because it has to do with movement and train and should be there. And we don't need to say welcome to [0:56:52, 0:56:53]: Okay. [0:56:53, 0:56:54]: I think. [0:56:55, 0:56:56]: All right, Greg, you had your hand up. [0:57:02, 0:57:10]: Yeah, uh I I agree with the whimsical image uh at the wall for the school because I like the idea of bringing [0:57:10, 0:57:16]: art and school and and children together and having a more whimsical [0:57:16, 0:57:23]: uh field there at that intersection um and then agree with a historical mural for the Oglesby location. [0:57:23, 0:57:24]: Okay. [0:57:25, 0:57:26]: Thank you. [0:57:28, 0:57:29]: Anyone else? Oh, Nika. [0:57:30, 0:57:50]: Yes, I just want to echo what everyone's saying by the school. Love the concept and um bringing it up on panels to uh elevate. And when traffic is coming down the bridge, uh those people will see, I think it should still say not welcome to, but Stockbridge where communities connect. [0:57:50, 0:57:58]: Because when you're coming in that direction, you won't be able to see the well, you may not be able to see what may be. [0:57:59, 0:58:02]: on downtown building on the other side that says welcome to stop rich so [0:58:03, 0:58:11]: I it would be great to have people in both directions identify that you are now in soffrage, but with that interaction and the sustainability there. [0:58:12, 0:58:30]: You know, the Oglesby building um concept one I like better than two for the verbiage and the images, but I like the vibrancy of concept two better. It's like brighter colors. I know it's because of the rose and everything, but I feel like two is. [0:58:30, 0:58:50]: tying us more back to Atlanta um with having like Ebenezer tied in there and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and um Mrs. King. Um I feel like that's saying, okay, we're connected to Atlanta opposed to we are our own identity, which one gives us more of that, I think. But I just [0:58:50, 0:58:52]: feel like the colors are are a little muted. [0:58:53, 0:59:01]: Um and personally I would love to see a little more um brightness um in the mural for that one. That's just my favorite. Thank you. [0:59:03, 0:59:03]: Okay. [0:59:06, 0:59:06]: Okay. [0:59:07, 0:59:09]: So are we in agreement? [0:59:10, 0:59:15]: That we would like to see the whimsical mural by the school. [0:59:15, 0:59:17]: And then the historical [0:59:17, 0:59:20]: mural, whatever that concept will be. [0:59:20, 0:59:24]: Um whether it's the one or the um option. [0:59:24, 0:59:25]: Two [0:59:26, 0:59:27]: Wait a minute. [0:59:27, 0:59:31]: Yeah, yeah, whether it's option one or option two. [0:59:31, 0:59:32]: It would be [0:59:33, 0:59:35]: Um in the downtown bridge area. [0:59:37, 0:59:40]: And then the whimsical one um by the school. [0:59:41, 0:59:45]: W what about four and f five and six? Um we'll get to those in a minute. [0:59:45, 0:59:50]: All right. I'm just trying to decide which one is gonna be the long mural. [0:59:50, 0:59:52]: Where the long murals are going to be placed. [0:59:54, 1:00:14]: Kira, I have a question. And I I had the runaway when the conversation started and I do apologize for that. I just want to be clear because I there are some concepts on both sides of it. Um Ogre and Horale. Uh we're doing both or just one. We're trying to decide one or both sides of the road. That's why I'm [1:00:14, 1:00:19]: I'm trying to go we're talking about both sides. Are we trying to decide on which one we're gonna go with? [1:00:19, 1:00:20]: No. [1:00:20, 1:00:28]: We're gonna do we're gonna do both sides. We're gonna do both sides eventually if Mr. Oglesby will. [1:00:28, 1:00:29]: Cooperate. [1:00:30, 1:00:32]: Okay. Um but right now [1:00:32, 1:00:35]: We're trying to decide which mural will go [1:00:35, 1:00:37]: Um right there by the school. [1:00:37, 1:00:38]: Definitely. [1:00:39, 1:00:41]: So it will either be a historic [1:00:42, 1:00:49]: uh mural with like the homage to daddy king in some way or just the stockbridge letters or the train. [1:00:50, 1:00:52]: Or a combination of the train and letters. [1:00:52, 1:00:53]: Yes. [1:00:54, 1:01:11]: All right, I I'm clear now. I just I was just heard so much stuff going on. I apologize. I missed the first portion of it. No, that's okay. Um, and I apologize if I'm being confusing. The Oglesby building is where we eventually would like to have a mural, but we don't have his permission yet. [1:01:11, 1:01:15]: So that's why I said that's kind of the pie in the sky location. [1:01:16, 1:01:25]: And we would like to try to reserve that space for a historical mural because it's in the downtown area. It might not ever happen. [1:01:26, 1:01:29]: But we are like to try to push. [1:01:29, 1:01:33]: And try to conv I guess I should say persuade and convince him. [1:01:33, 1:01:36]: At some point to allow us to have an agreement. [1:01:36, 1:01:40]: To have a mural on the side of his building. He might say never. [1:01:40, 1:01:46]: And that's why I'd say that if you all definitely want [1:01:46, 1:01:47]: Um [1:01:47, 1:01:51]: А историка муро апостолика муро. [1:01:51, 1:01:55]: That's the only place we can guarantee that it'll go as far as the long mural. [1:01:56, 1:01:59]: On the side of the Ted Strickland, we're definitely. [1:01:59, 1:02:02]: Um putting the historic murals [1:02:02, 1:02:05]: Well, if we get permission from the city council to put them there. [1:02:06, 1:02:11]: That's where we'll put them, but they'll be on panels so they'll be able to be removed if necessary. [1:02:12, 1:02:29]: Okay. So does that clarify things a little bit? It does. I apologize. And I think with the whizical one by the school, I think that's the best one because a school setting you dealing with kids. I agree. But is the verbiage on that gonna be the same or can that be looked at to change, like uh where it say where communities connect? [1:02:29, 1:02:46]: Yes, we can change we can change the verbiage if if we want to. Uh we're just trying to decide what the which design we're gonna go with, and then we can talk about verbiage. And what we'll probably do um in the interest of time is kind of um [1:02:47, 1:02:50]: Set this up as a design committee project. [1:02:50, 1:02:55]: So that um people who are, you know, very interested in what it actually looks like. [1:02:56, 1:02:59]: Um they can we can get a smaller group together. [1:03:00, 1:03:11]: and decide what that verbiage is gonna be and what um that verbiage is gonna look like. So it right now we're just trying to decide between historical drawing or train for that wall. [1:03:12, 1:03:19]: Yeah, I'm I'm I'm I I like the the the training for that wall from a school perspective and and it represents the kids and and and [1:03:19, 1:03:25]: the the the school that's on that side. So I I I'm clear now. I I got a truly understanding of it. I think okay. [1:03:26, 1:03:26]: All right. [1:03:27, 1:03:28]: Greg, did you have a comment? [1:03:31, 1:03:45]: Well, I I I think it it bears just just stating that um even if Mr. Oglesby doesn't cooperate and doesn't allow us to have that wall, um, by putting options five and six in the breezeway, we still get to make a connection. [1:03:45, 1:03:49]: to MLK Senior Heritage Trail and Daddy King with a mural there. [1:03:49, 1:03:50]: Right. [1:03:50, 1:03:55]: Yeah, I I think that plays into the the thought of using the whimsical at the school. [1:03:55, 1:03:56]: Okay. [1:03:57, 1:03:59]: Um, Lisa, you had a comment? [1:03:59, 1:04:00]: They'd um [1:04:00, 1:04:07]: When Kira and I discussed this, we tossed around so many different angles and possibilities of [1:04:07, 1:04:09]: You know, a perspective. [1:04:09, 1:04:12]: And I just wanted to add that um [1:04:13, 1:04:14]: I think when we talked to John. [1:04:15, 1:04:16]: Months ago. [1:04:16, 1:04:20]: There was also this part of the conversation. Um I of course like [1:04:21, 1:04:22]: To have the um [1:04:24, 1:04:27]: Where community connects and children and family. [1:04:27, 1:04:28]: Ideal. [1:04:29, 1:04:33]: Where the school is, I think that's also important right now. [1:04:33, 1:04:34]: Because [1:04:34, 1:04:41]: Our nation is in need of inclusion. And that, you know, we have a very inclusive community and that's a wonderful thing. [1:04:41, 1:04:42]: However [1:04:42, 1:04:45]: As another perspective and maybe as devil's advocate. [1:04:46, 1:04:49]: There are so many people who have no clue. [1:04:49, 1:04:53]: That we are the birthplace of the King family. [1:04:54, 1:04:57]: And anytime we've had the opportunity to discuss it. [1:04:58, 1:05:03]: It's always like this major surprise. So and and then also consider that um [1:05:05, 1:05:07]: Forty two, highway forty two. [1:05:07, 1:05:18]: is a major route in and out of Stockbridge. So when people arrive in Stockbridge, of course we want to welcome them, but that might be our opportunity to let them know. [1:05:19, 1:05:21]: Who we are, you know, in terms of. [1:05:22, 1:05:25]: Our history and what we've contributed to the world historiquely. [1:05:26, 1:05:26]: Um [1:05:27, 1:05:27]: The [1:05:27, 1:05:30]: Images in the breeze way. [1:05:30, 1:05:33]: won't get immediate attention from travelers. [1:05:34, 1:05:37]: Um, so it's not the same type of tourism effect. [1:05:38, 1:05:38]: Um [1:05:39, 1:05:42]: We'd love to have it on Mr. Oglesby's building, but [1:05:42, 1:05:47]: Right now we don't know if that will happen. And so I'm just throwing it out there that um [1:05:48, 1:05:50]: The side of the school maybe are [1:05:51, 1:05:54]: First best opportunity. [1:05:54, 1:05:57]: To present that kind of message to the world. [1:05:58, 1:05:59]: Just something that [1:05:59, 1:06:00]: To chew one. [1:06:01, 1:06:03]: Look, can I say something real quick? [1:06:03, 1:06:10]: So another thing I talked to Kier about was if we do that mural at the school on panels. [1:06:10, 1:06:14]: Uh and it's like on a s own little billboard thing. [1:06:14, 1:06:15]: On the back side of the wall. [1:06:16, 1:06:18]: where the fence is and all, we could easily put [1:06:19, 1:06:21]: Another mural on panels right behind it. [1:06:22, 1:06:24]: So it's visual from the other direction. [1:06:25, 1:06:30]: I'm not saying it's gonna be a full mural, but I'm saying it could be something that you could put there if you choose to do that. [1:06:30, 1:06:34]: And later on you can decide to move those panels someplace else. [1:06:35, 1:06:38]: But that's the beauty beauty of book painting them on mirror on panels. [1:06:40, 1:06:41]: So that's a thought. [1:06:42, 1:06:42]: Okay. [1:06:43, 1:06:53]: All right. So I think that we need to kind of take a um final vote so we'll know which way we're going. Um and this can just be kind of an informal [1:06:53, 1:06:54]: Um [1:06:55, 1:07:00]: which way you want to go with whimsical or historical for Horrell Street by the school. [1:07:04, 1:07:13]: Okay, let's do that really quick then. So this is just getting your um input. It's not an official vote. So uh Mr. Hopkins. [1:07:14, 1:07:16]: I say the ones that go by the school. [1:07:16, 1:07:17]: Thank you, sir. [1:07:17, 1:07:18]: Mr. Hortzon? [1:07:22, 1:07:24]: Other when to call that to school. [1:07:25, 1:07:26]: Thank you, Sarah. [1:07:26, 1:07:27]: Miss Jones? [1:07:27, 1:07:29]: The winners go by the school, please. [1:07:30, 1:07:31]: Thanks, ma'am. [1:07:31, 1:07:32]: I agree. [1:07:33, 1:07:34]: With whimsical by the school. [1:07:35, 1:07:39]: And love the concept of being to do something on the backside. Miss Reed? [1:07:40, 1:07:41]: Most of the bad school. [1:07:42, 1:07:42]: Thank you, ma'am. [1:07:43, 1:07:45]: Has Miss Richardson joined us? [1:07:46, 1:07:47]: Not yet. [1:07:47, 1:07:48]: Okay. [1:07:48, 1:07:49]: Mr. Thomas. [1:07:50, 1:07:50]: I concur. [1:07:51, 1:07:52]: Thank you, Sarah. [1:07:54, 1:07:57]: Okay, so it looks like we're gonna go whimsical by the school. [1:07:58, 1:08:07]: And um we will focus our um historical mu murals with historical um subject matter in the downtown area. [1:08:07, 1:08:11]: Okay, good. All right, John. We've got our marching orders with regard to that. [1:08:12, 1:08:12]: Okay. [1:08:13, 1:08:27]: All right. And you had mentioned possibly coming up with a design that had the letters kind of cut out since we're gonna um put them on panels there as well. So um if we could task you with doing that just so um people can see what that might look like. [1:08:28, 1:08:36]: Um and now for we'll move to the downtown murals very quickly and again we might have to um [1:08:37, 1:08:41]: continue this conversation in a smaller group outside of our um [1:08:42, 1:08:44]: regular meeting. [1:08:44, 1:08:47]: Um we have um five and six. [1:08:48, 1:08:52]: Those are the designs that we're looking at placing at um the [1:08:52, 1:09:02]: Breezeway area that will be the main thoroughfare from the Cultural Arts Center. Umce that has been completed, um, Burke Street. [1:09:02, 1:09:11]: And through the downtown to Martin Luther King Senior Heritage Trail. That will be on the sidewall of the Ted Strickland building. There are two two sidewalls there. [1:09:12, 1:09:16]: And those will be the um that will also be the Main Street program office. [1:09:17, 1:09:20]: Um the two concepts that we have um [1:09:20, 1:09:26]: Are one side would be his early life, uh homage to Martin Luther King. [1:09:26, 1:09:28]: Seniors early life and then the [1:09:29, 1:09:32]: Second one would be an homage to his later life. [1:09:33, 1:09:37]: And um we wanted it to be kind of a um historic. [1:09:38, 1:09:41]: type photograph if you will or a vignette if you will. [1:09:42, 1:09:45]: Um my comments were um that [1:09:46, 1:09:48]: I would like to see um [1:09:49, 1:09:52]: The early life to also have um a [1:09:53, 1:09:55]: Um image of Floyd Chapel Baptist Church. [1:09:56, 1:10:06]: I think that that is where his true connection is to our community. Um, he did work with the railroad, but that was not a a a predominant part of his life. [1:10:07, 1:10:10]: So that's the change that I would like to see. [1:10:10, 1:10:14]: Um what do you all think about the two um [1:10:15, 1:10:19]: Two options and mist um councilman Thomas, you might have. [1:10:19, 1:10:32]: um a little more input with regard to some of the um vignette pictures because you have extensively um researched daddy king's life so you might have some jet suggestions rather. [1:10:32, 1:10:38]: Yeah, I I I do think should involve uh Flora Chapel. I think that is the connection. [1:10:39, 1:10:45]: Um I think that also resonate, you know, with the um city as a whole. [1:10:45, 1:10:49]: So I do agree, I think we do need to uh to include that. [1:10:50, 1:10:50]: Okay. [1:10:50, 1:10:52]: And and I will also say that [1:10:52, 1:10:56]: Um, you know, folks are really fascinated. Um [1:10:57, 1:11:00]: About you know Daddy King and Starkridge and [1:11:01, 1:11:03]: That interest is still growing. [1:11:06, 1:11:07]: Yes. [1:11:08, 1:11:10]: Any other comments about the um [1:11:11, 1:11:13]: The suggested um [1:11:14, 1:11:17]: pictorals to be a part of the vignette. [1:11:20, 1:11:21]: Can I make a s [1:11:21, 1:11:29]: Comment real quick? Uh yes. When I've I've researched as many pictures as I could possibly find for Daddy King and also [1:11:29, 1:11:32]: other things. Now when I Googled um [1:11:32, 1:11:35]: Floyd Chapel Church. It was a modern picture of a modern building. [1:11:36, 1:11:38]: Is there a picture of the old building? [1:11:38, 1:11:41]: The way it looked like when he was there. [1:11:42, 1:11:45]: Even if you website is that one. [1:11:46, 1:11:46]: I'm sorry. [1:11:47, 1:11:50]: Maybe I can I can answer that. Um [1:11:52, 1:11:55]: There was a picture I found in an old file. [1:11:56, 1:11:57]: Um that [1:11:57, 1:12:00]: Is supposedly the old Floyd Chapel. [1:12:01, 1:12:09]: There's nothing on the document that actually indicates it's actually Floyd Chapel. You know, a lot of those southern churches look very much alike. [1:12:10, 1:12:11]: In those days. [1:12:11, 1:12:12]: Um [1:12:12, 1:12:16]: So I'm not certain if we have an official picture of [1:12:16, 1:12:17]: They [1:12:17, 1:12:20]: Old Floyd Chapel before the fire. [1:12:20, 1:12:25]: Um or before any modernization modernization has taken place on the building. [1:12:26, 1:12:27]: Um [1:12:27, 1:12:29]: But we can [1:12:29, 1:12:32]: consider using the picture we found that [1:12:33, 1:12:34]: You know, looks a lot like [1:12:35, 1:12:42]: An old southern church similar to that same I mean in the church pr from what everyone has told me, the church has pretty much looked the same. [1:12:42, 1:12:44]: since it was built. [1:12:44, 1:12:47]: Um, I think that the entrance was on [1:12:47, 1:12:50]: An opposite side at one point. [1:12:50, 1:12:59]: But for the most part, it has looked exactly the way it has it looks now. It was just a different color. It was white and they've painted it yellow now. [1:13:00, 1:13:01]: Well can can I [1:13:02, 1:13:03]: Sorry. [1:13:03, 1:13:05]: Can you can you see that anyone? [1:13:06, 1:13:11]: Um, I have to share my screen with you. Hold on. Let me see if I can share it with you. [1:13:16, 1:13:16]: Okay. [1:13:19, 1:13:21]: Um, cause I don't see a picture of you. [1:13:22, 1:13:25]: No, I yeah, uh it's not a picture. [1:13:25, 1:13:28]: I just see the my name in print. [1:13:28, 1:13:33]: But I have a picture on my um Are you able to turn on your video? [1:13:34, 1:13:35]: Uh [1:13:38, 1:13:40]: There you go. I see you. [1:13:41, 1:13:42]: Can you [1:13:42, 1:13:44]: Yeah, I see that. Yeah. That's the old [1:13:45, 1:13:46]: Right. [1:13:47, 1:13:50]: Okay. Um yeah, if we can get some of those pictures. [1:13:50, 1:13:51]: An another suggestion was [1:13:52, 1:13:53]: Uh [1:13:53, 1:13:56]: If we can maybe approach the current membership. [1:13:56, 1:14:02]: They probably have a history archive scrapbooks that's got old pictures of Daddy King preaching. [1:14:02, 1:14:03]: You think so? [1:14:04, 1:14:05]: They don't have any? [1:14:05, 1:14:06]: We've asked. [1:14:07, 1:14:08]: No, they they do that. [1:14:09, 1:14:12]: Uh well let me say this. Um [1:14:13, 1:14:27]: Pastor Vance has um an association with uh Morehouse, and I believe that this is where some of these pictures came from. I'll check with him to see if there's anything uh at Morehouse that we may be able to get. [1:14:28, 1:14:34]: And I also want to make a note that we want the church to be recognizable to the community too. [1:14:34, 1:14:41]: Mm-hmm. So um that's a big thing. Is there a plaque or a plaque of some sort saying that Staddy King was that's where he was? [1:14:41, 1:14:44]: Is there a marker of some s some sort? Yeah, there's a marker there. [1:14:45, 1:14:47]: Well, we can maybe include the marker. [1:14:47, 1:14:48]: In in the mural. [1:14:48, 1:14:49]: Yeah. [1:14:49, 1:14:51]: Greg, you had a comment? [1:14:53, 1:14:54]: Yeah, uh [1:14:54, 1:15:00]: I was just gonna add that I do like your idea of replacing I I assume we're talking about the image. [1:15:01, 1:15:07]: for uh number five that has to train. You're talking about replacing that with the image of Floyd Chapel. [1:15:08, 1:15:08]: Yes. [1:15:09, 1:15:28]: I think that works very well, especially since we're on the Civil Rights Trail. Then you'd have the mural of Floyd Chapel and then the mural of Ebenezer, which connects us f to Atlanta and connects to Floyd Chapel, just a little bit further down the street, right there in one spot on the Civil Rights Trail in that alleyway. [1:15:29, 1:15:30]: Okay. I agree. [1:15:31, 1:15:32]: Anyone else? [1:15:34, 1:15:35]: I agree. [1:15:35, 1:15:36]: Okay. [1:15:37, 1:15:42]: All right, and then um also the um second image. [1:15:42, 1:15:50]: Um they have um Daddy King with um Rosalind and Jimmy Carter and Andy Young and Coretta. [1:15:50, 1:15:52]: Um I [1:15:52, 1:15:57]: Personally, um would like to see an image um if we can possibly find one. [1:15:58, 1:16:07]: um to go there that is more so more works of Daddy King, um, maybe on a picket line or, you know, something like that there. [1:16:07, 1:16:09]: Um, as opposed to [1:16:09, 1:16:15]: these particular figures because they don't really have a a connection to [1:16:15, 1:16:16]: Um [1:16:17, 1:16:22]: stock bridge the way that um maybe Coretta would or um [1:16:22, 1:16:23]: King Junior would have. [1:16:24, 1:16:25]: Um [1:16:25, 1:16:30]: So that might be something that we want to um take a look at as well. [1:16:30, 1:16:36]: But I think that um what we'll do is have a um smaller group. [1:16:36, 1:16:44]: um discussion about the mural, I'll send an invitation out to you all for another time for us to look at that if you're able to. [1:16:44, 1:16:48]: be a part of that you can and then if not [1:16:48, 1:16:53]: You um can just send me comments. You have the um concepts with you. [1:16:54, 1:17:00]: And um then we'll kind of hash this out a little bit more. I just wanted to make sure that we were in agreement. [1:17:00, 1:17:08]: that the two um murals that will be in the breezeway would be um historic in nature and if you all are good with that. [1:17:11, 1:17:12]: Okay. [1:17:12, 1:17:23]: Are there any um other comments or suggestions for the two murals in the breezeway that you'd like to um make sure that we have down now? And again, we'll revisit this. [1:17:23, 1:17:24]: Um [1:17:24, 1:17:25]: At a different time. [1:17:27, 1:17:32]: Uh Mrs. Bragg, just yes. Um I know is Mr. Peterson still on? [1:17:33, 1:17:34]: Yes, he is. [1:17:35, 1:17:38]: Um I know he's been very quiet and I just want to [1:17:38, 1:17:48]: uh extend um you know you're you're part of the family now. So I just want to know if you had it in the comments. Um I just I just want to hear your voice. [1:17:49, 1:17:55]: Oh well I was um I I was taking notes. Uh I'm for the mural project, especially with the amphitheater. [1:17:56, 1:17:58]: I'm thinking about it from a broader standpoint. [1:17:58, 1:17:59]: I want um [1:18:00, 1:18:02]: Stockbridge to be um sort of a destination. [1:18:03, 1:18:09]: Uh we can definitely capitalize off of uh Daddy King's leg legacy. And I I like the mural project. It's [1:18:10, 1:18:13]: It's towards that um arts as economic development concept. [1:18:13, 1:18:14]: So um [1:18:15, 1:18:16]: Yeah, well say it. [1:18:17, 1:18:20]: Uh yeah, just in two honeys, that'll be all. [1:18:20, 1:18:21]: Four twenty eight. [1:18:22, 1:18:25]: Linda, um put your um mic on mute. [1:18:26, 1:18:30]: I'm ordering food. I know we can hear you. Okay. [1:18:32, 1:18:33]: Mm Mr. Peters. [1:18:34, 1:18:34]: Yes, sir. [1:18:35, 1:18:38]: Now you um I I don't know if you got a chance to finish. [1:18:39, 1:18:47]: Oh well all almost. Um and now I was, you know, taking notes on my pad and and typing, but I'll speak to Miss Um Miss Kira about it. [1:18:47, 1:18:51]: about it later. But I I love the um the concept. Hopefully we can get that building. [1:18:52, 1:18:55]: In the main street um area to to agree. [1:18:55, 1:18:59]: To let us have the mural on the side of his building, that'll help with the connectivity. [1:18:59, 1:19:01]: What we're doing with the amphitheater. [1:19:01, 1:19:03]: And um just the whole Main Street in general. [1:19:04, 1:19:05]: But uh as far as the [1:19:06, 1:19:08]: The slide showing the details of the design. [1:19:08, 1:19:09]: I haven't. [1:19:09, 1:19:10]: Uh [1:19:10, 1:19:13]: formed an opinion yet on on who I would like. [1:19:13, 1:19:16]: I know I want Daddy King to be on there as but as far as the details. [1:19:17, 1:19:20]: I d I haven't come to um to an opinion on that yet. [1:19:20, 1:19:21]: Okay. [1:19:21, 1:19:23]: Well, I just wanted to hear your voice. [1:19:23, 1:19:27]: Oh yes, sir. I'm I'm over here taking notes. Taking notes. Thank you. [1:19:27, 1:19:29]: Okay, Mrs. Mrs. Braggs, back to you. [1:19:30, 1:19:42]: Okay. Um so what we'll do is we'll set up a meet give you all some time to kind of think about um the historic murals in the breeze way. We'll try to set up something for the evening of Thursday. [1:19:43, 1:19:43]: Um [1:19:45, 1:19:47]: The eighteenth. [1:19:48, 1:20:00]: Thursday the 18th, we'll do an evening meeting so we won't interrupt your work days. Probably about seven o'clock. Um, I'm sorry, about six thirty. Probably which would you all prefer? Six or seven? [1:20:00, 1:20:04]: for people that are um actually having to go into the office to work. [1:20:05, 1:20:10]: This is Anika seven. Seven. Okay. So we'll do seven on Thursday. [1:20:11, 1:20:13]: The um eighteenth. [1:20:15, 1:20:19]: And that way we can have just a full scale discussion about content for murals. [1:20:21, 1:20:23]: And that'll be d via Zoom. [1:20:24, 1:20:25]: Okay. [1:20:25, 1:20:39]: So thank you for your input. I appreciate you giving um your feedback and being um very candid and honest about um your opinions with regard to that. And we'll revisit this and get some final um recommendations. Um [1:20:39, 1:20:45]: that we can present to the council to get their final go ahead with um having these murals installed. [1:20:45, 1:20:46]: Okay. Um [1:20:47, 1:20:50]: Moving to the next part of um [1:20:50, 1:20:59]: Our agenda, new business, Main Street trainings are coming up. Oh, John, I'm sorry. I'll go ahead and guess if you don't need me. [1:20:59, 1:21:06]: Oh yes. And I'll call you right after this meeting, John. I'm sorry. All right. Bye bye. I forgot you weren't a part of the group for a minute there. [1:21:06, 1:21:10]: Thanks, John. Thanks, John. I'll be talking to you. [1:21:11, 1:21:16]: Okay, sorry about that. Y'all forgot that he was not a part of the group formally. Okay. Um [1:21:17, 1:21:37]: So Main Street trainings are coming up. If you all are interested in attending the National Main Street Convention, please let me know. Registration has come up and we want to be able to get our early bird pricing. This is the first time because it is virtual that you all as a board will [1:21:37, 1:21:45]: Be able to attend the national conference. So that is the rainbow in this whole COVID situation that. [1:21:46, 1:21:55]: you all will be able to attend this very, very important conference. The dates for the conference are going to be April the 12th through the 14th. [1:21:56, 1:22:13]: They are all day sessions. Um, you don't have to attend every session. You can kind of pick and choose what you would like to attend. Um, and they have an open plenary session, they have excellent speakers, and I would recommend that everybody [1:22:13, 1:22:31]: um agree to attend at least some of the sessions of the conference. So look at your calendars and get back to me to let me know whether or not you will be able to attend. You can go on the main the national main street site, Main Street Now. [1:22:31, 1:22:34]: Um and they have um [1:22:34, 1:22:40]: the whole conference um calendar so you can kind of take a look at what they're gonna be offering. [1:22:40, 1:22:41]: Um [1:22:41, 1:22:52]: But I would suggest that you make time in your schedule to do this. Again, it's virtual so you can have it playing while you're doing other things in the background. [1:22:53, 1:23:13]: And you can set up your schedule the way you would like for it to be set up as far as what you would like to attend. I need your answers with regard to whether you are going to be registered by the 19th. So please get back to me within a week's time as to whether or not you would like for me to register you for the conference. That'll give [1:23:13, 1:23:20]: Give you some time to go on the website and look to see what they are offering as far as um sessions, but this is an opportunity. [1:23:21, 1:23:32]: That is very rare. So please, please um be sure to take a look at the website and make plans to attend at least some of the sessions. But I need to know if you want to be registered. [1:23:32, 1:23:34]: By um next week this time. [1:23:35, 1:23:36]: Here. [1:23:36, 1:23:37]: Yes, sir. [1:23:37, 1:23:38]: Give you that acknowledgement now. [1:23:39, 1:23:40]: I'm sorry. [1:23:40, 1:23:46]: Can we give you that acknowledgement now? Oh sure. If you know you want to attend, yes. Okay. Thank you, Willie. [1:23:48, 1:23:52]: Okay, I've got you down. And anyone else just let me know before next Friday. [1:23:53, 1:24:13]: Also, we need to um talk about our um board retreat. Um we are supposed to meet every year annually for our work session, as you all know. Um, COVID um did not allow for us to do that um last year, so we're a year behind, but um our accreditation is not in jeopardy because. [1:24:13, 1:24:17]: because everyone was in the same situation. [1:24:17, 1:24:22]: They gave us some leniency at DCA with regard to their requirement for us hosting our annual retreat. [1:24:23, 1:24:29]: But I do want to get some feedback from you all with regard to how we want to do this. [1:24:30, 1:24:31]: Um [1:24:31, 1:24:34]: Right now we're having our meet meetings virtually. [1:24:35, 1:24:54]: But we do have spaces that are large enough, like the Merrill Manders Conference Center, if we would like to get together in an in-person basis, socially distanced, of course, to host our retreat, or if you all would prefer to have it still virtually. [1:24:54, 1:24:58]: And that's a question I would like to put out to you all for some feedback. [1:25:00, 1:25:03]: Virtually for me, I I think is is as much [1:25:03, 1:25:05]: Easier um [1:25:06, 1:25:08]: For me, I have so many meetings and [1:25:09, 1:25:11]: But I I'll just vote virtually for myself. [1:25:12, 1:25:12]: Okay. [1:25:13, 1:25:15]: Does anyone else have comments? [1:25:15, 1:25:19]: Kira, this is Anika. Is there a particular date we need to have it by? [1:25:20, 1:25:30]: There's no particular there's no particular date, but you know, you all know traditionally we have always had our retreat in the early quarter of the year. [1:25:31, 1:25:37]: Um, so we're kind of getting to that time. We're actually maybe a little bit late. We usually have it um March, April. [1:25:38, 1:25:47]: Um have even had it in February one year, which was really good because we were able to more effectively plan the whole year, but we're a little behind. So [1:25:47, 1:25:48]: Um [1:25:49, 1:25:53]: I would say at least by April we need to be h hosting our retreat. [1:25:54, 1:26:02]: Okay. If it needs to be in the first quarter of the year, I agree with m uh councilman Thomas that we remain virtual because uh not a lot has changed. [1:26:03, 1:26:03]: Okay. [1:26:05, 1:26:08]: All right, anyone else have an opinion? [1:26:11, 1:26:15]: Okay. I concur with you as well. Virtual. I concur with you. [1:26:17, 1:26:21]: All right. So I think we'll try to do I concur virtual as well. [1:26:21, 1:26:23]: Okay, Greg, thank you. [1:26:24, 1:26:25]: Anyone else? [1:26:26, 1:26:29]: Oh virtual as well. Virtual. Okay, Linda. Yes. [1:26:30, 1:26:31]: What about you, Maildrit? [1:26:32, 1:26:46]: Oh, I have no problem. I I I can go virtual. I was just thinking because something I need to say and it's the time it's still early. It's a little too early. At first I was gonna recommend Merle Manders and we space out. I've I've done some of that. [1:26:46, 1:26:49]: uh not too long ago and I and it was very effective. [1:26:50, 1:26:51]: But we know virtual. [1:26:52, 1:26:55]: Okay. So we're agreeing to do it virtually [1:26:55, 1:27:02]: And another thing that I would like to propose to you all is that um we try to [1:27:02, 1:27:04]: Include [1:27:04, 1:27:08]: The downtown development authority try to do something jointly. [1:27:08, 1:27:18]: with them. I would like to speak with their leadership. Um they've had a change in leadership and I think that they are very amenable to us. [1:27:18, 1:27:28]: hosting a joint session. Um I will be um participating in their meeting on next Tuesday and you all of course as always are welcome to [1:27:28, 1:27:34]: Um s um watch those sessions of the DDA meeting. It is a public meeting. [1:27:34, 1:27:37]: And I would like to um speak with them about [1:27:38, 1:27:40]: Hosting a joint. [1:27:40, 1:27:41]: Um planning retreat. [1:27:42, 1:27:47]: Um, I'm not exactly sure how we do all of that virtually because you know we usually [1:27:47, 1:27:49]: are spread out and we've got [1:27:50, 1:27:50]: Big [1:27:50, 1:27:56]: paper and um whiteboards and all of that kind of stuff when we do this type of planning. [1:27:56, 1:28:01]: so that we can um really, really get into the nitty gritty of planning. But [1:28:01, 1:28:06]: Um, I would at least like to put that option out there and then um try to [1:28:07, 1:28:14]: put together a few people in a committee to figure out what that is gonna look like and um how it needs to be presented. [1:28:14, 1:28:18]: But how do you all feel about trying to approach the DDA about a joint session? [1:28:20, 1:28:24]: Mrs. Bragg, um I I had that on my to do list. I had [1:28:24, 1:28:26]: Spoken with um [1:28:26, 1:28:37]: the leadership of the uh well I'll just say with Mr. Nighton and um I I have a meeting with plan w with Mr. Peterson, but I had that on my to do list because I think [1:28:37, 1:28:50]: When we start talking about economic development, uh I think the city council, the main street, and the DDA need to be in on that session so we're all uh understanding the direction that we're going. [1:28:51, 1:28:51]: Okay. [1:28:53, 1:28:54]: I concur. [1:28:55, 1:29:00]: Okay. All right. I will um oh, Mr. Peterson. [1:29:00, 1:29:01]: Oh yes ma'am. [1:29:02, 1:29:05]: Uh one quick question. Around what time did you want to have that meeting? [1:29:06, 1:29:08]: with the uh with the DDA, that joint meeting. [1:29:08, 1:29:21]: Um, I would have to talk with them. I'm assuming that because they meet in the evenings that the retreat would have to be in in an on an evening or on a weekend. We usually host our retreat on a Saturday. [1:29:22, 1:29:26]: Um so that people don't have to interfere with their work schedule. [1:29:26, 1:29:35]: So I'm thinking that if we go with our tradition, it would be on a Saturday, probably starting at around nine o'clock and go until twelve PM. [1:29:36, 1:29:44]: And then um if it is more so in keeping with the DDA schedule, it would probably be in the evening sometime. [1:29:44, 1:29:50]: But we are required to do um four hours of um training with regard to the board retreat. [1:29:51, 1:29:57]: I don't know if that's gonna turn into like a two day'cause I don't know if anybody wants to sit on virtual for four hours, but [1:29:57, 1:30:02]: We'll have to pull a committee together to kind of see what that looks like. So it would either be in an evening. [1:30:03, 1:30:06]: A weekday evening or on a Saturday starting in the morning. [1:30:07, 1:30:08]: Okay. Are you looking at a [1:30:09, 1:30:11]: Uh March or April around that time. [1:30:12, 1:30:12]: Um [1:30:13, 1:30:23]: I'm thinking Mar I mean April now, because we would probably need a month to pull it together and if we're gonna have it facilitated to get a facilitator and that sort of thing. [1:30:27, 1:30:29]: April at the earliest. [1:30:30, 1:30:33]: May, maybe, you know, if we can't pull it all together in time. [1:30:41, 1:30:42]: Are there any other comments on that? [1:30:45, 1:30:48]: Are you all good with approaching the D DA? [1:30:50, 1:30:59]: Ms. Bergman. Craig's clapping. Everybody's got a thumbs up. Okay. So I'll try to um make that happen. I'll speak with their leadership and see what we can come up with. [1:31:00, 1:31:03]: Mrs. Braggs, if I may. Um Yes, sir. [1:31:03, 1:31:04]: Um [1:31:06, 1:31:10]: This is very important that I have sort of moved forward with. [1:31:11, 1:31:11]: Um [1:31:12, 1:31:15]: think we have to include um the council. [1:31:15, 1:31:21]: Um, it is very important. Uh I know we've been fragmented in the past. [1:31:22, 1:31:24]: It is very it is crucial. [1:31:25, 1:31:28]: That all of us understand how we are team. [1:31:29, 1:31:35]: and trying to move forward, uh not only with economic development, but even community development. [1:31:35, 1:31:37]: So I think it's gonna be important. So [1:31:38, 1:31:39]: My point is [1:31:40, 1:31:42]: Not to rush it. [1:31:42, 1:31:46]: Let's make sure that the schedule fits everyone. [1:31:46, 1:31:52]: Because what comes out of that is going to be crucial for the future of of Star Gridge and [1:31:52, 1:31:57]: I'll speak to you uh offline um about some things, but um [1:31:58, 1:32:01]: This is a crucial step, and we we have to definitely make sure that. [1:32:02, 1:32:09]: Um, you know, we move forward and try to get the best out of this. Um scrupulous, but I speak to you a little bit more offline. [1:32:09, 1:32:10]: Okay. [1:32:11, 1:32:12]: Mr. Horton. [1:32:13, 1:32:14]: Great. [1:32:18, 1:32:19]: Yes. [1:32:19, 1:32:21]: Um um [1:32:21, 1:32:25]: I I really appreciate Councilman Thomas's uh [1:32:26, 1:32:28]: thoughts and and and willingness to [1:32:29, 1:32:30]: Uh [1:32:30, 1:32:32]: have that joint retreat. [1:32:32, 1:32:39]: But I think given the history um here in Stockbridge with Main Street and the DDA and the council. [1:32:40, 1:32:44]: I don't think we're ready for all three of those to come together in retreat yet. [1:32:44, 1:33:04]: I think it's important for Main Street and DDA to come together and develop that relationship and get a game plan before we present it to the council, as he's saying, because I think it's it's that important that that we need to get ourselves in order before we go before the council because the council will come in with its own agenda. [1:33:06, 1:33:08]: I c I I can I can agree with that. [1:33:09, 1:33:15]: Um, I'll also touch on that. I think that people um may feel [1:33:15, 1:33:22]: somewhat intimidated sometimes if the council members are there um with regard to uh free discussion. [1:33:23, 1:33:36]: Um, I think that if we, you know, other than the council liaisons that are appointed to those particular boards, I think that if we have our retreat first and talk amongst ourselves about [1:33:37, 1:33:42]: downtown development and what we would like to see and what we would like to recommend. [1:33:42, 1:33:45]: And then maybe have an additional session. [1:33:46, 1:33:55]: where council is invited and we make presentations and have um free dialogue, I think that that might be a better idea. [1:33:55, 1:34:01]: Because um we have had situation number one, it's gonna be difficult enough to get. [1:34:01, 1:34:03]: The schedules of [1:34:04, 1:34:05]: About fifteen [1:34:05, 1:34:09]: people together and then adding an additional six work [1:34:09, 1:34:12]: you know, surpassing twenty people. [1:34:12, 1:34:15]: So that's also an issue and has been an issue in the past. [1:34:16, 1:34:23]: Where we weren't able to get all of our council members and all of our DDA members and everyone together in one place. [1:34:24, 1:34:27]: And it's also been a situation where um [1:34:28, 1:34:30]: The discussion has kind of been muddled. [1:34:31, 1:34:33]: So I think that I agree with Greg. [1:34:34, 1:34:40]: That it would probably be in our best interest to first have the two downtown organizations meet and then um [1:34:40, 1:34:42]: Incorporate the council. [1:34:42, 1:34:42]: Mm-hmm. [1:34:44, 1:34:45]: Anyone else? [1:34:47, 1:34:48]: I totally agree. [1:34:49, 1:34:50]: Okay. [1:34:51, 1:34:52]: I agree that um [1:34:52, 1:34:53]: Thank you. [1:34:53, 1:34:54]: Okay. [1:34:54, 1:34:58]: And thank you for pointing that out, Greg. Mr. Hopkins is giving the thumbs up. [1:34:58, 1:35:05]: So I think that that's what we'll try to do, Alan. We will um approach the DDA about trying to set up something. [1:35:05, 1:35:06]: Um by April. [1:35:07, 1:35:11]: for the two groups to meet and then we will look at the calendar for something. [1:35:11, 1:35:15]: a bit later after that session to include the council. [1:35:17, 1:35:17]: Okay. [1:35:18, 1:35:26]: All right. Um then just very quickly, and I know we're past time, so let me just quickly give you all an update on the amphitheater. [1:35:27, 1:35:28]: Um [1:35:28, 1:35:44]: Because I have some pictures, our other projects, what I'll do is send you all a written um update, email that out to you all so you all will be abreast of what's going on with our um projects. All of them are moving along. But let me share my screen really quickly. [1:35:46, 1:35:46]: Um [1:35:49, 1:35:51]: Can you all see that um [1:35:54, 1:35:55]: The Stockbridge amphitheater. [1:35:55, 1:35:56]: Yes. [1:35:56, 1:35:57]: Okay. [1:35:58, 1:36:00]: Um of course that is the um [1:36:01, 1:36:09]: Rendering for the um overall site, just wanted to refresh your memory on what it's supposed to look like um as the end product. [1:36:11, 1:36:16]: Um this is the construction that's going on now. Um I'm gonna use my [1:36:17, 1:36:30]: Cursor, if I can, to kind of show you some of the things that have changed since our last update. All of this brickwork has been completed. They're now doing the interiors. Um, this um [1:36:30, 1:36:37]: area here they've put in the pavers. Can't really tell that well from the picture, but all of this is [1:36:38, 1:36:48]: are um brick pavers in this area here and that's how it is in each one of the um entryways. You can see the stage coming up and the VIP area there. [1:36:49, 1:36:50]: Um so [1:36:50, 1:36:54]: The majority of the um exterior work has been done and they're now [1:36:55, 1:36:57]: doing um interiors. [1:36:58, 1:36:58]: Oops. [1:36:59, 1:37:07]: Um, this is an aerial view of the seating area. You can see that um this is a terraced. [1:37:07, 1:37:14]: Seating area here with stairs down the middle and all of the sides. This is right in front of the stage. [1:37:14, 1:37:18]: This area is I kind of call it the um [1:37:19, 1:37:37]: the um orchestra pit kind of seating area here where they'll be able to place um tables for special events um or additional seating. Then you have the seating that is right up adjacent to the stage. These are um [1:37:38, 1:37:41]: kind of pavilion like areas that have seating. [1:37:42, 1:37:43]: available um [1:37:44, 1:37:49]: And these are the ticketing wheel call and concession stands. [1:37:50, 1:37:52]: Um these three buildings here. [1:37:53, 1:38:00]: And Mr. Thomas, you've also had an update. So if you want to jump in, you can for any additional detail. [1:38:00, 1:38:03]: Um this area here, this is a um [1:38:03, 1:38:06]: shot where you can kind of see [1:38:06, 1:38:07]: The um [1:38:08, 1:38:17]: Oh, I pointed to the wrong area. This is the area where the tables and additional seating can go. I had pointed to this in the other picture. Is this area actually here? [1:38:17, 1:38:23]: where the tables and additional seating can go. Then you have the seating adjacent to the stage. [1:38:23, 1:38:31]: This is the terrace seating here. And this is underneath one of those little um pavilions where they have seating. [1:38:31, 1:38:33]: Um underneath the um [1:38:35, 1:38:41]: What do you want to call them? Canopies for lack of a better word here. And these are the three well, two of the three buildings. [1:38:42, 1:38:47]: that will um house wheel call, restrooms and the ticketing. [1:38:49, 1:38:50]: And concession stand. [1:38:52, 1:39:07]: Um, I wanted to show you all this. This is an interior view of um one of the rooms. Um, they're going to have a um VIP area and then also the dressing rooms for the um [1:39:07, 1:39:11]: People who perform um have performances there for the [1:39:12, 1:39:20]: Um, whoever is a part of the performance group, they'll have a dressing room, dressing rooms available. So just to give you an idea of [1:39:20, 1:39:25]: um the the modern and kind of um eclectic feel that they kind of have. [1:39:25, 1:39:27]: Um inside the [1:39:27, 1:39:28]: Um [1:39:28, 1:39:30]: VIP and dressing room area. [1:39:32, 1:39:42]: Um then we have the adjacent park area. This is an aerial view of where the um some additional parking and the walking and [1:39:42, 1:39:47]: Um walking trail and park area will be with um the pond. [1:39:49, 1:39:51]: Um trails walk going around the pond. [1:39:52, 1:40:02]: Um these are some of the program imagery um shots that provide yes, sir. Uh before you go, I wanted to make a comment here. Um [1:40:03, 1:40:07]: At our last council meeting and I want to share this to this with this group. [1:40:07, 1:40:25]: Uh if you could point to your cursor to the um I guess on the screen it would be up to the top. Yeah. I raised an issue there. Um if you notice, you know, you have a residential area, homeowners, etc. etc. I raised the issue of some type of um [1:40:25, 1:40:30]: Security fencing with some um greenery planted. [1:40:30, 1:40:35]: Um it is so close. If you travel, if you go back to Lee Street. [1:40:36, 1:40:37]: Bryant Street [1:40:38, 1:40:40]: That is so close. [1:40:40, 1:40:43]: Um, you know, and you know, we've had some issues. [1:40:44, 1:40:47]: Uh you know, very street right there. [1:40:47, 1:40:53]: Right. Right. But um but we've had some issues. So I'm pushing the city to [1:40:54, 1:41:01]: um invest in some type of uh security fencing back there to separate that from the homeowners. [1:41:01, 1:41:04]: Um, you know, I'm really concerned about [1:41:04, 1:41:16]: you know, some other issues, but I just wanted to share that with this group. I don't know if anyone else will will have that concern. Once you sort of go out there and you'd be able to see how close [1:41:16, 1:41:19]: Uh that resident area is [1:41:19, 1:41:28]: uh to that particular location right there. It just you walk out your back door and you're on the campus of the amphitheater. And that raises a little concern for me. [1:41:29, 1:41:43]: Um, I agree and um was at the m meeting and heard that being brought up. I definitely agree. And then I also think that in the future there might even have to be some sound barrier type walls. [1:41:44, 1:41:46]: Yeah. [1:41:46, 1:41:47]: Yes. Um [1:41:48, 1:41:50]: But these are some um [1:41:50, 1:42:06]: program imagery photos that kind of give you an idea of what they're planning. Um of course these are shots in other um locales, but they're planning to have a a pond with a water feature, an overlook where you kind of look down into the area. [1:42:07, 1:42:09]: Окурс, трес и [1:42:10, 1:42:17]: Um, so that kind of gives you an idea about that. And this is the actual site. Here is the um [1:42:18, 1:42:28]: the um amphitheater campus and then this is the adjacent park area. As you see can see they have planned some parking. [1:42:28, 1:42:36]: This is the overlook area that I mentioned where you'll kind of be able to stand on a platform and look down into [1:42:36, 1:42:40]: the pond and walking trail area. This building here. [1:42:41, 1:42:44]: Is that home that is still on? [1:42:45, 1:42:51]: Um East Atlanta Road, they call it the Stockbridge Museum Building because there was talk about [1:42:52, 1:42:58]: putting the museum there. But I think since they have started talking about tearing that building down, haven't they? [1:42:58, 1:43:00]: Um, Mr. Thomas. [1:43:01, 1:43:02]: Yes, um [1:43:04, 1:43:08]: There is a plan for the um [1:43:08, 1:43:10]: Uber and Lyft. [1:43:11, 1:43:11]: Um [1:43:12, 1:43:12]: Area. [1:43:13, 1:43:20]: Um I I really can't get into details right now, but yes, uh there are plans for that particular building. [1:43:20, 1:43:24]: Whether to um tear down or utilize it. [1:43:24, 1:43:26]: Um yeah. [1:43:26, 1:43:31]: Well, I was excited when they were talking about um making that the museum area. [1:43:31, 1:43:36]: Since um, you know, we had originally planned for the Main Street. [1:43:37, 1:43:37]: Um [1:43:38, 1:43:44]: office to be in the f old fire station and we were going to have a museum area there. So [1:43:44, 1:43:57]: Um, I was kind of excited when they said they were going to do the museum here since we're no longer able to be located in the fire station. But now that might change a little bit too. So we'll see what happens, but that just kind of gives you all. [1:43:58, 1:44:06]: Well, I'll be honest with I'll be honest with you, Ms. Bragg. I I never heard of that that concept of a of a museum in that building. I haven't I'm not familiar with that. [1:44:07, 1:44:12]: Oh, I had heard it and maybe that was just something that they were kind of tossing around. [1:44:13, 1:44:19]: In the early stages of it, but I don't know. Well originally uh the [1:44:20, 1:44:21]: Um [1:44:21, 1:44:25]: management company that would do all of the bookings, et cetera, et cetera. [1:44:25, 1:44:30]: Uh it was talked about utilizing that building for for that purpose. [1:44:30, 1:44:35]: Yeah, I had heard we'll call management and museum, so [1:44:35, 1:44:36]: Yeah, so [1:44:37, 1:44:52]: What several concepts have been, I guess ideas have been tossed around, but it looks like it's gonna go anyway. So um I think that the Uber and Lyft areas are very important. So if that's where they're planning to put it, I think that that would be a good move. [1:44:52, 1:44:53]: Yeah. [1:44:53, 1:45:08]: Okay, so um the other projects I'll send you all a written um update and you all can let me know if you have any questions, but everything is moving along. Um the numbers have been um given to [1:45:08, 1:45:18]: our city um manager and we're going to be selecting a contractor hopefully um very soon I have a meeting next week to kind of discuss that. [1:45:18, 1:45:26]: And they have um on the alleyway project, they have moved forward with getting the environmental um studies done. [1:45:26, 1:45:27]: So [1:45:28, 1:45:36]: Everything's moving along, and I'm very happy so far with um that pri progress, given the fact that we have the amphitheater project going on. [1:45:37, 1:45:38]: As well. [1:45:38, 1:45:40]: And let's see. Um [1:45:41, 1:45:49]: Mrs. Berger, if if I may add, I know it's been a concern and there's been questions since there's a void now of [1:45:50, 1:45:52]: Uh rental space. [1:45:52, 1:45:53]: Um [1:45:54, 1:45:58]: That there's a concern about availability of rental space for [1:45:59, 1:46:05]: Uh residents that may want a small venue. So I just wanted to indicate that the green room. [1:46:05, 1:46:23]: uh there at the um amphitheater will be utilized for for that purpose. So um must we will try to get that message out to everyone to know that that space will be available for citizens to be able to rent for some of those uh small venues. [1:46:23, 1:46:27]: Right. [1:46:29, 1:46:31]: Yes, that's true. Um [1:46:33, 1:46:39]: Okay. Um Barber has not joined us with regard to um a DDA report. [1:46:39, 1:46:41]: But I will um [1:46:42, 1:46:53]: Just let you I already told you that I'll be um attending the DDA meeting and we'll bring that um information um with regard to trying to schedule a joint meeting to them at that time. [1:46:53, 1:46:56]: Kara, give me Kira, give me the date again. I don't have my calendar. [1:46:57, 1:46:59]: Which day the D D A meeting. [1:47:00, 1:47:06]: It's next um Tuesday. Um that's the sixteenth. [1:47:06, 1:47:07]: Okay. [1:47:08, 1:47:08]: Okay. [1:47:10, 1:47:14]: All right. Um, and that concludes my report. [1:47:17, 1:47:20]: Thank you so much, Miss Braggs, for your report. [1:47:20, 1:47:25]: Um are there any additional questions for Miss Bryce? [1:47:26, 1:47:27]: Broken science. [1:47:29, 1:47:39]: Okay. Um Karen Nunn and Ashley stated. Oh sorry. Ms. Kieran, did you see my question to you regarding Facebook? [1:47:41, 1:47:42]: I did not. [1:47:42, 1:47:43]: Oh, I'm sorry. [1:47:44, 1:47:49]: Okay, I I was under the impression you wanted me to give an update on the Facebook campaigns, but in [1:47:51, 1:47:55]: Uh, realizing the time, I'm not sure if we still need to do that today. [1:47:55, 1:47:59]: Um we'll give that report at our next meeting just um as a um [1:47:59, 1:48:00]: A recap. [1:48:01, 1:48:02]: Okay. Okay, thanks. [1:48:05, 1:48:07]: Thank you, Ms. Mm-hmm. [1:48:08, 1:48:10]: Anything else or anyone else? [1:48:11, 1:48:13]: I guess we can just say um [1:48:14, 1:48:17]: Be sure to follow our Facebook. We've got some um [1:48:18, 1:48:25]: Local love campaign ads running and also some Black History Um Month ads running as well. [1:48:28, 1:48:30]: Okay, great. [1:48:31, 1:48:43]: Um with us not having a D D D A report um for today, are there any our final agenda item is announcements or concerns? Do we have any? [1:48:45, 1:48:46]: Yes, Mr. Hopkins. [1:48:46, 1:48:55]: Uh I just want to uh welcome Mr. Peterson to this uh Stockbridge family. Uh this is my first time meeting him, and uh hopefully uh [1:48:55, 1:49:03]: I'll get a chance to meet him in person when this pandemic over until we get into a neutral place. But I just want to welcome him to the to the city. I know he can do some outstanding things. [1:49:04, 1:49:06]: Thank you very much, and I'm I'm looking forward to it. [1:49:16, 1:49:26]: But we couldn't see him. We heard his voice, but we couldn't see him. So I'm sorry about that, Alan. I uh I that was my bad. [1:49:26, 1:49:39]: I should have introduced you, but everyone, this is Alan Peterson, our new um economic development director for the city of Stockbridge. And um Main Street staff will be reporting directly to Alan. [1:49:41, 1:49:52]: Yes, thank you, Miss Braggs. That was definitely on the list of things we were gonna bring up because we were like, okay, Mr. Peterson, introduce yourself, sir. But that's been covered. So thank you both.
